YouTube CEO reveals more AI-generated content is coming to your video feeds

YouTube plans to enrich your video streams further by incorporating more artificial intelligence, as Veo 3 will be introduced to Shorts towards the end of summer.

Discussions about Google’s Veo 3 AI videos were widespread across the internet in May, as people began using this advanced tool for the first time.

3VEO can generate lifelike video content using straightforward commands, offering an additional feature that many competing AI solutions don’t have – it produces both audio and spoken dialogues.

Starting this summer, I’m thrilled to share that YouTube will be welcoming Veo 3 into its family! This exciting news was shared by our CEO at the 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Can’t wait to see how it enhances my YouTube experience!

YouTube confirms Veo 3 AI is coming to Shorts

Following the accolades for Veo 3 and the feature allowing YouTube users to employ AI-created backdrops and short clips via Dream Screen for Shorts, CEO Neal Mohan hinted at further advancements on the horizon.

“Today, I’m proud to share that Veo 3 will be coming to YouTube Shorts later this summer,” he said.

I think these tools are going to unlock fresh avenues of creativity for all. Yet, what’s truly captivating isn’t just what appears on the screen, but rather the role AI plays in supporting and inspiring creators working behind the scenes.

Mohan highlighted that auto-dubbing significantly influenced videos, as over 20 million videos have been dubbed since creators gained access to this feature just six months ago.

Over the next two decades, I anticipate creators to switch formats, mix genres, and venture further into mainstream popularity as brand endorsers, business leaders, and innovative storytellers. Fan communities will consistently demonstrate their influence, and advanced AI technology will challenge the boundaries of human creativity.

YouTube’s decision to display advertisements on Shorts for Premium Lite subscribers means an increase in ad exposure around AI-generated content, with Veo 3 being one of the platforms integrated into this new setup. So, brace yourself for a potentially ad-heavy experience.

YouTube has likewise adopted AI to optimize advertisements, positioning them strategically during times when viewers’ emotional engagement is peak.
