Return to Silent Hill trailer found by fan after Konami took it down

After much anticipation, the long-awaited revisit to the haunting town of Silent Hill has officially set a release date. A sneak peek at this eerie return was recently resurfaced on various social platforms following its removal by Konami.

In 2006, the first film adaptation of Silent Hill, directed by Christophe Gans, hit the screens. While both critics and fans had mixed feelings about it initially, it still managed to garner enough commercial success to warrant a sequel titled Silent Hill: Revelation. Let’s just say that its follow-up wasn’t exactly a masterpiece.

About 15 years after its initial departure from the big screen, the renowned video game series Silent Hill is making a comeback with the title “Return to Silent Hill”. Gans will once again take the director’s chair, and this time around, it’s an on-screen adaptation of Silent Hill 2. Jeremy Irvine, known for his role in “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again”, will portray James in this reboot.

Recently, Cineverse, who’s known for distributing the Terrifier films, has acquired it. Back in May 2024, Konami posted a trailer teaser, which was later removed. Don’t worry too much (although there might be some concern), as it’s still available online.

In May of this year, the trailer was reposted on social media by a fan (@MemoryOfAlessa_). This short 48-second clip offers a tantalizing sneak peek at the movie, showcasing James gazing into a mirror, a letter from Mary, Pyramid Head wielding a sword and attempting to seize him, as well as other eerie glimpses of the film.

The fan stated that they chose to reshare the movie’s trailer, believing it important for more individuals to experience its atmosphere. They felt it was unfair that the trailer Konami removed a few months back should be hidden from viewers.

It’s thought that the teaser might not have been meant for the general audience since it could still be incomplete. But with a scheduled launch approaching, anticipate another official update coming up shortly.

For people new to this game (either the original version or its remake from last year), the film centers around “James, a man who’s been deeply affected by the end of his romance with his beloved partner, Mary.

When a cryptic missive summons him back to the enigmatic Silent Hill, he returns to find his once-familiar town twisted by an unidentified malevolence. However, the farther James ventures into the shadows, the more disturbing facts he unearths, revealing an appalling reality. In turn, James battles to endure, hoping to find a way to rescue his cherished beloved.

An additional delight for game enthusiasts: Composer of the series, Akira Yamaoka, will also be contributing his musical talents to the movie’s soundtrack.
