Streamer calls Twitch ‘insecure’ after banning him for breaking multi-stream rules

Streamer Nutty has labeled Twitch as ‘insecure’ following a ban, which he received for violating the platform’s guidelines on simultaneous streaming.

Over time, the practice of broadcasting content simultaneously across various social media platforms has become increasingly fashionable among content creators, aiming to amass a large following on multiple sites. Yet, each platform carries unique regulations, and occasionally, issues may arise.

On Monday, June 16th, streaming partner Nutty experienced his initial banishment from Twitch. Swiftly addressing the situation, he posted a straightforward “Rest In Peace” on platform X.

He didn’t take too much time before disclosing that he had breached “simulcasting guidelines,” and pondered over the possible actions that might have led to this rule infringement.

Streamer hits out at ‘insecure’ Twitch

The warning provided Nutty with several potential infractions, among them was a specific reference to “combining chats.” As a result, he assumed that Twitch had suspended him due to displaying chat streams from all his broadcasting platforms.

Yet, Nutty swiftly reversed his decision following a reminder from a viewer, pointing out that he had initially solicited gifts via TikTok as a test for the platform’s alert system.

During my live stream,” he explained, “I requested my assistant to send me virtual gifts on TikTok just to check a notification feature. However, it’s important to note that this practice isn’t typically permitted.

Based on the email, it’s against Twitch’s Terms of Service to guide your community to move to a different platform instead of using Twitch.

I believe the actual cause behind my ban was this: During my live stream, I instructed my chat to send me TikTok gifts as a test for an alert system. This action technically violates their rules.

In a similar scenario on YouTube, if someone donated $1000, wouldn’t we acknowledge it? After all, receiving such a generous gift would be hard to ignore!

He promptly expressed his opinions on the regulations and his suspension too, labeling them as “incredibly foolish” and describing Twitch as ‘nervous’.

He expressed, “I’ll accept the suspension, but these rules are hard to believe and require revision.” In simpler terms, he’s stating that the wording of the guidelines makes it seem as though acknowledging donations from platforms like StreamElements/Streamlabs on a stream is against Twitch’s policies. However, he questions how this recognition excludes or diminishes the Twitch community.

As a dedicated follower, I stumbled upon a comment stating they weren’t aware that “merging chats” went against the terms of service (TOS). This intriguing revelation sparked a response from our beloved figurehead, Nutty.

He mentioned that Twitch prefers not to be overshadowed by other platforms, which might suggest a certain level of insecurity, to put it frankly.

Twitch doesn’t want you to “prioritize” other platforms over them. Screams insecurity tbh.

Over the years, concerns about multi-streaming violating Twitch’s terms of service have been frequently raised. In fact, streamer Valkyrae advocated back in April for a complete overhaul of these rules to enable her to display her YouTube chat on Twitch without fearing a ban.
