Xbox President Shares New Details On Next-Gen Xbox Console

Microsoft is entering into a long-term strategic partnership with AMD for the purpose of equipping their upcoming device lineup, which includes the next model of the Xbox home console.

Today, it was announced by Xbox President Sarah Bond that Microsoft and AMD will collaborate to co-develop silicon for various devices, such as the upcoming generations of Xbox consoles, which can be found both in your living room and in your hands.

With AMD’s collaboration, Microsoft can achieve a higher standard of visual fidelity, offering more immersive gaming experiences and boosting performance using artificial intelligence.

Microsoft aims to establish a versatile platform where games can be accessible on multiple devices, ensuring they are never confined to one store or limited to functioning on just one device. According to Bond, this means breaking free from the traditional restrictions, with the Xbox and Windows teams collaborating closely to make this vision a reality.

In February 2024, Bond predicted that the upcoming Xbox model would represent an unprecedented technological advancement compared to any other hardware generation.

Regarding Microsoft’s intentions for a handheld device like the Xbox, it seems their plans for a standalone product might be postponed or scrapped. Instead, they are collaborating with Asus on various Xbox ROG Ally devices scheduled to release this holiday season. The cost details have yet to be revealed. These systems are capable of running a wide variety of games, including those originally designed for PlayStation PC platforms.
