Recall that eerie kids’ puppet show from Control? That being said, the launch trailer for Firebreak doesn’t have quite the same unsettling vibe, but it does carry on the concept of a puppet show reminiscent of what we saw in Control.
The launch trailer for Remedy’s first multiplayer game showcases no gameplay at all, but rather emphasizes the storyline that is integral to the entire Remedy universe.
Just a day into Firebreak’s release on Steam, the three-player cooperative shooter is receiving generally negative feedback from players. Many of the reviews have played for less than an hour, suggesting either they found the gameplay unappealing or didn’t invest much time in it. Some reviews praise the game while labeling other reviews as biased or misleading. In his FBC: Firebreak preview, Mark Delaney described the FPS as a rebellious, punk rock interpretation of cooperative shooters.
Firebreak is the inaugural multiplayer game from the studio known for Control and Alan Wake. In this game, teams of three work together, with each member having unique equipment. They fight off waves of adversaries while completing a variety of tasks. At launch, there are three roles to choose from, each offering different difficulty settings that increase the job’s length and the number of enemies involved.
Numerous critics have expressed dissatisfaction due to insufficient content in the game. Fortunately, Remedy has outlined two upcoming updates filled with new jobs and maps, planned for release this Fall and Winter. Those eagerly awaiting more from FBC: Firebreak might want to revisit the game after these updates are made available.
