After more than 9 years, popular shooter is close to 1.0 release. This event is set to bring countless changes to Escape from Tarkov

As an eager enthusiast, I can’t help but share some exciting news: Players like me, who immerse ourselves in the gritty world of Escape From Tarkov, are on the verge of experiencing one final wipe before the grand unveiling of the full game version.

9 years have passed since the initial alpha testing, with nearly 8 years elapsed since the beginning of early access/beta tests for Battlestate Games Studio’s unique online shooter. After celebrating this milestone, DayZ will officially launch in full: debuting first on the developer’s official site, and subsequently on Steam.

Absolutely, throughout this period, the game has experienced significant transformations, many of which are linked to what’s known as a wipe – a process that clears players’ advancements, inventory, and so forth. Typically, players aren’t fond of such changes, even if they comprehend the necessity for such a reset.

It appears that players will experience one more data wipe prior to the launch of Escape From Tarkov version 1.0, as confirmed by Nikita Buyanov, COO of Battlestate Games (via X/Reddit/Insider Gaming). In simpler terms, players can expect to lose their in-game items one more time before the official release of version 1.0 of Escape From Tarkov.

One or two “cleaning”?

The developer didn’t offer any extra information, however, it’s noteworthy that a fresh start, or initially announced “wipe” in PvE mode, is planned for the launch of Escape from Tarkov 1.0. This reset aims to equalize the experiences of all players within EfT.

It’s uncertain whether Bujanow’s post pertains to the mentioned move or a preliminary “wipe” prior to the official game launch. Fans appear to be leaning towards the latter, and some players interpret this as a potential indicator of a delay in the game’s release. Previous information from April hinted at the 1.0 update release no sooner than September.

Some players connect the latest developer’s update with the major event scheduled for August 2025. It’s possible that this event could result in a reset, potentially culminating in a catastrophic event like a nuclear blast or another incident to warrant it. While this is merely conjecture, Bujanow’s post appears designed to create excitement ahead of the potential reset, no matter what shape it might take.
