NIS America recently disclosed that “The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon” will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 as well, but its launch has been postponed to early 2026 across all platforms.
Originally planned for release on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in the Western fall season, Trails Beyond the Horizon has now been confirmed for release on Nintendo Switch 2 as well. This announcement was made by NIS America, with a statement from Falcom’s president, Toshihiro Kondo. At present, there is no information available regarding an upgrade path or methods for transferring save data from the original Nintendo Switch version to the new one.
On NIS America’s pre-order page, it’s been made clear that the Switch 2 edition will be distributed as a Game Key Card. It’s also worth noting that the Switch 2 Limited Edition available on the NIS America store is $10 pricier compared to its versions for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
In January 2026, The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, its successor, and PC platforms including Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, available in the Western market.
