Lacy responds to backlash after using AI-generated picture to promote stream

FaZe Lacy addressed the criticism following his share of an AI-created image featuring him alongside NFL athlete Tyreek Hill.

On June 14, 2025, FaZe Lacy shared a photo featuring him and Tyreek Hill, hinting at their forthcoming streaming collaboration, which he announced via this post.

People soon concluded that the image was probably created by artificial intelligence, and they started criticizing him for not employing an artist to create it, even though he is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch.

One user wrote, “Since you’re a millionaire, wouldn’t it be better to hire genuine artists instead of relying on artificial intelligence for your art?

Another said: “Stop the AI slop.”

Lacy defends using AI to generate a stream poster

During his Twitch stream, Lacy addressed the criticism he faced for employing AI to produce an image.

Hey there, mate! Let me share some thoughts with you. You know all those folks grumbling about the use of AI? Well, Can you believe it was free? No need to dish out $150 or wait a day and a half for someone else to make it – I simply asked AI to do the job for me. So yeah, AI’s not all bad, buddy. It’s just another tool we can use to create amazing things!

If what you’re seeing here is AI-generated content, that’s fantastic! However, let me clarify, I will indeed be utilizing AI in this context. It’s significantly less demanding compared to traditional methods. Is it quick and easy? Absolutely. You see, I received information about the Tyreek Hill live stream just an hour ago, and I don’t have the luxury of time to wait.

This announcement follows closely on the heels of Lacy explaining the reasons behind his simultaneous streaming on Twitch, Kick, and a few other members of the FaZe Clan.

Indeed, I’m simultaneously streaming on Kick for an additional $100 per month. It’s quite appealing, isn’t it? Admittedly, I’m drawn to the benefits that come with it.
