Xbox ROG Ally set to be one of the most expensive handhelds ever according to report

It’s rumored that the prices for both versions of Microsoft’s upcoming portable Xbox consoles might have already been revealed before any formal announcement is made.

On June 13th, a trustworthy industry insider shared a video, asserting that he had received information from two separate European retailers about the pricing of the Xbox ROG Ally and Xbox ROG Ally X. The former is expected to be sold at €599, while the latter will retail for €899.

Moreover, it’s being reported that the pre-orders for both consoles will commence in August, with a planned release in October. However, it’s important to note that neither Microsoft nor Asus have confirmed these details yet, so consider this information as speculation.

If correct, an approximate currency conversion suggests that the less expensive Ally model might cost approximately $700. On the contrary, the higher-end Ally X would be around $1,000.

Comparison to ROG Ally

Previously, Asus unveiled platform-neutral ROG Ally handhelds, distinct from Microsoft or Xbox. These debuted in 2023 and were sold at prices ranging from $599 to $699. Subsequently, in 2024, they introduced the ROG Ally X, priced at $800.

It appears that the rumored prices for the Xbox Ally match up roughly with what Asus has sold in past hardware. If extras1’s predictions are correct, the higher-priced Xbox models coming out in 2025 might be due to their incorporation of more advanced hardware.

The point is, conversions aside, merely because the rumored price for European markets seems accurate, it doesn’t automatically imply that American retailers will match this exact price.
