Elite Tekken player “Joe Budden” kicked out of tournament seconds after beating a pro

At CEO 2025, the lineup for Tekken 8 witnessed an extraordinary and tumultuous match, a series where a competitor known as “Joe Budden” triumphed over Tekken expert Bilal with a 2-0 victory, only to be disqualified from the tournament moments following his win.

Tournaments for fighting games can sometimes feature unusual situations, given the large crowds gathered in a single convention hall. Spectators might don costumes based on their preferred characters, design extraordinary controllers, seek advice from their pets, or even remove their shirts during competition.

In an unforgettable battle, “Joe Budden” squared off against professional Tekken player Bilal. Known as a relentless competitor in Tekken 8, Joe usually battles online and employs an aggressive approach with Claudio, often leaving opponents enraged by his playstyle.

In simpler terms, Joe demonstrated that the strategy was effective even against top-notch opponents, as he defeated a highly skilled player who had journeyed from Pakistan to CEO without dropping a single game… but was quickly disqualified when he hastily ran backstage and tossed a roll of toilet paper at the commentators.

It’s important to note that the user named “Joe Budden” in this context is not the well-known rapper and songwriter with the same name. Instead, it’s simply a username he uses for gaming purposes.

Among numerous North American gamers, he rarely ventures out in real life, yet proves a relentless nuisance in the digital world. Players like him, who may not play professionally all the time, can sometimes deliver unexpectedly impressive performances, even against seasoned pros who compete full-time.

During their stage battle, he would mock the expert player following each round he claimed victory, employing a move similar to “Ki Charging” from Tekken.

In the second match, he carried the confidence from his initial victory directly over, resulting in a 2-0 triumph against Bilal, despite the fact that each round was extremely tight.

He arrived, he dominated, and he declared: “Ultra Soft.”

In an unusual display, he honored the occasion by placing a roll of toilet paper against the camera and positioning his finger over the words “Ultra Soft” on the packaging. However, what was not captured on video was him darting backstage and playfully tossing the pack of toilet paper to the commentators off-camera.

Commentator MarkMan stated, “Backstage, MF DOOM attempted to toss the ULTRA SOFT at me, causing a spooky laugh,” he added. Both him and Spooky took it in stride, transforming the incident into amusing banter for the broadcast, joking about it.

Despite him receiving penalties, the tournament authorities had no choice but to disqualify him, as evident in his competition records. He was all set to compete in the Winner’s bracket with a shot at reaching the top 24, but both of his matches ended up being marked as disqualifications.

As Markman clarified, I got disqualified because I ventured into the forbidden backstage zone, something only staff members are allowed to do. One of the tournament officials was trying to hold me back, but I pushed on despite multiple warnings about my actions.

During the event, our role was limited as we were providing commentary, meaning we didn’t have control over the actions that took place. It appears the event leaders or organizers made their decisions based on the unfolding situation.

This year, Joe has been quite busy with travels, including a trip to EVO Japan for competition. His dedication is evident, as he’s aiming to challenge some top-tier Tekken players. However, it’s important he doesn’t forget to keep his toiletries at home while on the go.
