Similar to Toby Fox’s prior game, Undertale, Deltarune emphasizes mystery. Many locations and bosses are skillfully concealed and may not be discovered during a typical playthrough. Furthermore, several items don’t have an immediately apparent purpose – such as the Egg – some of which can solve puzzles, but others seem to be just Easter eggs. So, what role does the Justice Axe play in this context?
You’ll get this unique weapon upon defeating the hidden boss. The only person capable of using it is Susie. It provides 12 Attack points and, interestingly enough, an enigmatic stat denoted as “???”. Its purpose or significance remains a mystery to all.
It’s challenging to provide a straightforward explanation about what exactly the “???” statistic does at the moment. The weapon’s description says it doesn’t possess any unique powers, but acquiring this item significantly boosted your strength. For now, it appears that the “???” seems to serve no purpose, but some speculate that it might become significant in later stages of the game as there are plans for up to 7 of these items (with only chapter 5 currently in development).
