Paradox’s „grand strategy” new feature will let us almost completely change its maps. Victoria 3 players can check it out next week

As a die-hard gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped about the latest scoop from Paradox Studio! In their developer’s diary for Victoria 3, they’ve unveiled the upcoming changes that’ll be part of the 1.9 update. Mark your calendars for June 17, 2025, because on that day, we’re getting our hands on a slew of new features, and one in particular has me intrigued!

This pertains to a function known as “custom Random Number Generator (RNG) seed.” Its implementation is expected to substantially alter the gaming experience, as it enables the selection of consistent seeds to produce a unique map featuring specific resources and distinctive features at predefined locations.

In “Victoria 3”, there’s quite a bit of unpredictability. With the latest addition, we’ll have more influence over certain aspects. Here’s a sneak peek at how this control manifests within the game.

It seems that certain features on the map will remain in the same location when starting a fresh game, which allows players to locate specific resources for advancement straight away. This also encourages fans to construct their own scenarios and distribute them among each other using seeds, much like in Minecraft. The developers have highlighted that this new addition is especially intended to delight modders.

In the coming week, we anticipate the disclosure of further information regarding our 1.9 update. This update is set to enhance war conductivity as well. Incidentally, on that very same day, the Victoria 3: Commerce Charters expansion will make its debut.
