James Gunn confirms Wonder Woman movie and this is who should play her

Stepping aside, Gal Gadot… here comes another hero to grace our screens! Or so it seems, as suggested by James Gunn. The next Wonder Woman film is on the horizon, and we have a strong contender for the role in mind.

After Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 have moved into the past, it’s unclear what lies ahead for DC’s most celebrated female superhero. Although she appeared in Justice League and Batman v Superman, a Wonder Woman 3 was canceled as of 2022.

In about three years’ time, James Gunn will take over the DC universe, bringing significant changes. His interpretation of Superman will be released on July 11, 2025, and it seems he won’t stop at just that character. Instead, he intends to redefine the entire DC universe.

According to Gunn’s interview with Entertainment Weekly, it appears that a new Wonder Woman film is being developed. However, since casting decisions haven’t been made yet, here’s our idea of who could take over from Gal Gadot in the role.

Adria Arjona is the perfect choice for James Gunn’s Wonder Woman

I’m thrilled about Adria Arjona! Known for her roles in ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ and ‘Andor’, this actress has demonstrated her knack for action scenes. Plus, she’s already connected with Gunn – making me even more excited to see what they might create together!

You may recall the 2016 horror film “The Belko Experiment,” written and produced by Gunn. Arjona is one of the actors featured in this movie that depicts a narrative about numerous office workers trapped in a building, compelled to battle one another until only one survives.

Given her impressive performance, Arjona could be a strong candidate for a DC role, potentially not as Wonder Woman, but another character. However, it’s worth noting that her new partner, Jason Momoa, plays Aquaman – the ruler of the ocean. So, it’s plausible that he might use his connections to help secure a role for her.

Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman has become a popular choice among fans, and many are expressing their desire for this casting to happen. One fan even said, ‘I want it. I need it. We want it. We need it. Please James Gunn,’ after the news broke.

1. “James Gunn announced Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman, and if my heart could burst, it would belong to you!!!” (Original emphasis maintained)

2. “When Adria Arjona was cast as Wonder Woman, I might not make it through that, I swear I might faint… That’s my Wonder Woman right there!” (More formal and neutral tone)

The Paradise Lost HBO Max series is progressing slowly, but it’s advancing nonetheless, as per Gunn’s statement to EW. Currently, Wonder Woman is in the process of being written.

Furthermore, Gunn stated that the roles for these iconic characters – Superman, Batman, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman – have not been filled as of yet. He emphasized their significant importance within the series at this stage.

I believe he picked up on it from something I mentioned. While I wouldn’t limit it to just those four words, I would emphasize that these four words hold significant importance for us. At present, I’m quite satisfied with the progress of two of those words, and we’re currently addressing the remaining two.
