The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (Taicca) has revealed a strategic alliance with renowned animation school, Gobelins Paris, during the MIFA film-TV market in Annecy.
In essence, our latest partnership is focused on nurturing animators from Taiwan, promoting the creation of unique intellectual properties suitable for kids and teens, and bolstering Taiwan’s ties with international animation markets.
Collaboratively, the partners are arranging the “Create Your Own IP International Animation Workshop,” a training initiative aimed at nurturing aspiring Taiwanese creators and professionals to create unique intellectual properties (IPs) for children’s animation. This workshop will delve into storytelling techniques, visual development, character and world design, and effective pitching methods.
As a passionate cinephile, I’ve always been intrigued by the innovative and captivating concepts emerging from Taiwanese creators. However, transforming these brilliant ideas into robust visual narratives can sometimes prove to be a formidable task. That’s why I’m eagerly looking forward to this workshop, which aims to connect the dots and provide the necessary tools for turning these fresh ideas into compelling stories on the big screen.
Alice Chang, Deputy CEO of Taicca, shared her enthusiasm about collaborating with a renowned global animation school. This partnership aims to foster unique Taiwanese tales,” she said.
With this collaboration, we aim to equip our creators with the necessary abilities, connections, and self-assurance to foster more ambitious aspirations and achieve greater heights.
Additionally, on the very same day, Taicca presented fresh initiatives at their Taiwan Spotlight pitching event held at Annecy’s MIFA market. One of these projects was “Wacky Tidy Pals,” helmed by Redic Hsu in direction and Mixcode as producers. This animated series features four characters setting off on an adventure while simultaneously unraveling mysteries, all triggered by a mysterious natural disturbance within their village.
In Liao Tai-Yu’s “Puringau,” a young girl named Akay strives to safeguard the forest. Endowed with ancient magical abilities, yet shunned by those she aims to assist, she navigates a delicate balance between skepticism and faith. This captivating series, brought to us by MK Origin Studio, delves into the folklore of Taiwan’s indigenous communities, as recently disclosed.
Titled “Blue Runners,” this film is a compelling adaptation from a prize-winning novel, helmed by the skilled hand of director Huang Shih-Ming. It chronicles the journeys of a former athlete and a young individual grappling with depression. Through the transformative power of long-distance running, they gradually emerge from their solitude. Stepmotion Pictures is eagerly involved in this project.
In the novel “Bliss: Beyond the Edge of Time,” readers are given an unyielding glimpse into a future where technology’s icy precision clashes with humanity’s delicate nature. The narrative weaves together five separate tales, prompting its creators to ponder: When memories can be deleted, identities altered and destinies manipulated in the future, what is genuinely ours?
In a somewhat contentious assertion found in Erik Lee’s “Tag,” it is suggested that genuine life commences following death. The narrative revolves around a mother and son who meet again in the afterlife, embarking on a journey of redemption through their continued existence. The term “tag” represents a system of “spiritual replacement,” meticulously designed by an elusive medium. Go Go Studios are responsible for its production.
