Mass Effect is already trembling in the foundations? New info about action RPG The Expanse: Osiris Reborn

At the Future Games Show event, it was revealed that a new game titled “The Expanse: Osiris Reborn” is in development. This upcoming title looks quite intriguing, particularly for enthusiasts of the Mass Effect franchise, given that it’s being developed by Owlcat Studio, recognized for their work on games like Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

In a recent chat between online content creator CohhCarnage and game director Alexandre Mishulin, some exciting fresh details have emerged that we’ll cover here. For your viewing pleasure, the entire interview is available below.

New information about the game

The video game titled “Osiris Reborn” is an action role-playing game based on the universe of “The Expanse”. As confirmed by Mishulin, the game’s storyline will unfold during the events depicted in the first two books, corresponding to the first, second, and part of the third season for viewers. Characters you recognize and locations such as Ganymede or Ceres are expected to appear within this game.

In this game, you won’t encounter a traditional class system; instead, various play styles provide greater flexibility and can be partially tailored during character creation. Notably, when designing our main character, we’re essentially crafting two characters simultaneously. The second one serves as your initial ally, your twin.

In contrast to its past games, Owlcat is focusing significantly more on companions in

The game provides ample room for customizing your character’s actions, but stops short of excessive flexibility, much like the Mass Effect series. In this aspect, you’ll have the ability to play as a selfless helper or a shrewd, self-interested individual.

As an eager fan, I’m thrilled to share that in Osiris Reborn, we find ourselves right at the heart of Ceres, serving as our central hub. Here, we’ll encounter a rich tapestry of characters and engage in numerous interactions. Unlike traditional narratives, our journey through this game won’t follow a single path. Instead, we’re free to traverse different locations in whichever sequence we choose. The immersive experience offered by Osiris Reborn is expected to be on par with the duration of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

From the interview, we also learned about a few other things:

  1. consequences of our decisions can be “good, bad, or strange;”
  2. with the use of magnetic boots, we will be able to walk on walls and ceilings;
  3. the game will implement combat in zero gravity;
  4. a lot of emphasis was placed on political intrigues, showcasing the good and bad traits of humanity;
  5. some actors from the series will return to their roles.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is heading to PC, PS5, and XSX/S. The release date isn’t known yet.
