Dying Light: The Beast won’t repeat Dying Light 2 mistake. Techland remembers for what fans loved this post-apocalyptic universe

2025’s Summer Game Fest unveiled a fresh trailer for Dying Light: The Beast, complete with its official release date. Furthermore, Tymon Smektala, head of Techland studio brand, had an extensive chat with PC Gamer, discussing the upcoming game and the entire series in detail.

In the words of Smektala, one might liken The Beast to what could be imagined as “Dying Light 3.” Despite the developer not unveiling any revolutionary elements typically associated with a sequel, it is nonetheless considered a robust and high-quality AAA game.

In the upcoming expansion for Dying Light: The Beast, they intend to reintroduce elements from the original game that were absent in Stay Human. This move is aimed at satisfying devoted fans who have voiced concerns about the loss of the survival horror ambiance in the sequel, as the developers strive to recapture that atmosphere.

The first “Dying Light” game was primarily designed for our main audience, offering a challenging survival horror experience set in an open world with strong survival elements. However, for “Dying Light 2“, it seems that we may have strayed from what made the original stand out. Although the sequel was commercially successful, some fans, who we typically aim to please, felt that we had lost the edge, the fear factor, the suspense, and the overall intensity compared to the original game.

In a nod to its origins, Dying Light: The Beast is poised to appease long-time fans by incorporating elements reminiscent of its roots. The game promises an eerie ambiance and brings back Kyle Crane, the protagonist from the 2015 blockbuster hit.

On August 22, 2025, the new expansion for Dying Light, titled “The Beast,” will become available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, next-gen consoles Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
