On a single day, Ozians managed to set aside their fear and anxiety – a celebration ensued as they launched the trailer for “Wicked: For Good.
As a follower, I’m thrilled to share that Universal, the team behind the Broadway adaptation, unveiled the first glimpse of the second half of “Wicked.” In just 24 hours, it garnered an astounding 113 million views! This surpasses the initial full trailer for last year’s “Wicked,” which managed 75 million views in the same timeframe. Interestingly, these figures are comparable to Greta Gerwig’s sensation “Barbie” and even exceed recent blockbusters like “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” “Mufasa: The Lion King,” and “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.” To put it into perspective, Marvel’s “Deadpool and Wolverine” trailer currently holds the record for the biggest trailer launch with a whopping 365 million views in 24 hours. While trailer views don’t directly translate to box office earnings, they do signal that audiences are eagerly anticipating another journey down the yellow brick road.
In this nearly three-minute preview, spectators get a tantalizing peek at the musical sequences from Act Two, specifically “No Good Deed” and “For Good,” which are emotionally charged pieces that lend their names to the movie’s title. The sneak peek also showcases Glinda and Fiyero’s grand wedding, the ominous flying monkeys, and a memorable scene of Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion appearing before the powerful wizard, all emblematic moments from the original story.
As a movie enthusiast, I was fortunate enough to be among the first to witness the exclusive sneak peek of “Wicked 2” on Wednesday night, during the re-screening of the original “Wicked” in over 100 North American theaters. To build the hype, Universal Studios released a short teaser on Instagram, partnering with none other than Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba), Ariana Grande (Glinda), Jonathan Bailey (Fiyero), Michelle Yeoh (Madame Morrible), and Jeff Goldblum (The Wizard of Oz). This tantalizing 15-second glimpse has already garnered an astonishing 85 million views since its release on Tuesday.

Following the events depicted in “The Wizard of Oz,” the upcoming musical “Wicked: For Good” delves into its second act. After Elphaba and Glinda forged a strong friendship in the initial story, their bond is strained as they go separate ways, leading to Elphaba being labeled an enemy by the Wizard, setting the stage for her transformation into the infamous Wicked Witch of the West.
The first part of “Wicked” earned an impressive $744 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation ever. Moreover, this musical version received ten Academy Award nominations, including best picture and acting categories for Erivo and Grande. As a result, the upcoming film “Wicked: For Good,” set to hit cinemas on November 22, has big shoes to fill.
