Fans Want to See Chris Evans Return as Steve Rogers in a New MCU Show

Did you know that the Marvel Cinematic Universe keeps growing at a rapid pace? But get this – so does the television universe!

Perhaps “quickly” might not be an accurate description, but they’ve undeniably made significant progress in certain areas. Initially, when Marvel TV shows started to connect with upcoming movies, everyone was thrilled. The series initially aired in 2021, a period when we were all confined at home due to closed movie theaters. As it was, these Marvel shows were our only source of Marvel content during that time.

Initially, they slowed their pace or faced strong opposition, leading the MCU to prioritize quality over quantity, a stance I support wholeheartedly. Consequently, TV shows were spaced out significantly, with just a couple being unveiled at once. The latest addition was Daredevil: Born Again, and soon we’ll see Ironheart, which appears quite impressive.

However, an idea for a TV series has been brewing in my mind for some time now, which I’d like to share and explain why it could be successful among viewers, namely the fans.

The MCU Shows Are Fun, And Fans Would Like To See Steve Rogers In One

To clarify what I mentioned earlier, I’m not implying that Marvel Cinematic Universe shows aren’t enjoyable; on the contrary, I’ve always been a die-hard fan of them.

Among the stories, some I might not return to (such as “Secret Invasion”), yet there are others that have not just fueled my affection for the characters I already appreciate, but also brought forth new characters whose appeal I would have overlooked without these series.

Example: Watching WandaVision deepened my affection for Wanda and her Scarlet Witch scenes across the Marvel universe. Ms. Marvel introduced me to Kamala Khan and I found her incredibly cool, especially as a teenager. I was hoping for more episodes. And let’s not forget Hawkeye, it really enhanced my admiration for the skilled archer and also made me appreciate Kate Bishop.

I’m looking forward to the upcoming TV series lineup, particularly one show that fans have been buzzing about which I believe could be entertaining if Marvel were to produce it, focusing on Steve Rogers.

Wouldn’t It Be Cool To See Steve Rogers Return The Infinity Stones?

The concept I’ve come across frequently and that I’ve grown increasingly fond of is Steve Rogers’ quest to return the Infinity Stones. It becomes evident when Steve travels back to the present and gives Sam the shield, effectively passing on the mantle of Captain America (to be honest, I prefer Sam Wilson as Captain America). However, it’s noticeable that he has aged significantly, appearing as if he’s nearing the end of his life.

The idea I often see and one I’ve grown to like is Steve Rogers’ mission to bring back the Infinity Stones. This becomes clear when Steve goes back to the present, gives Sam the shield, and becomes Captain America (I think Sam Wilson makes a great Captain America). Nevertheless, he seems to have aged a lot, giving the impression that he won’t live much longer.

Yet, it’s worth noting that Steve undertook quite an extensive journey to return all six of those stones. While this process took him to specific timeframes, thereby leading him to spend his days with Peggy, it also involved traveling to various regions of the universe to accomplish the task.

Ponder on the myriad possibilities of unexpected incidents that might arise during that assignment, events which were entirely unforeseen.

We’d Be Able To See So Many Cool Cameos

In the movies featuring the stones, it’s common to see characters from the past linked with these stones, and they sometimes reappear when the stone is in play. For instance, Red Skull, a character from Captain America: The First Avenger, was associated with the Soul Stone. One wonders what would happen if Steve Rogers met him again!

Besides Steve’s previous associates, additional characters who made brief appearances might return too. It’s possible we’ll see Tom Hiddleston’s Loki reappear, or perhaps another character we haven’t seen in quite some time. There is plenty of potential for further development.

It Could Lead To Us Connecting More With Steve’s Ending

Recently, I penned an article expressing my dwindling affinity for Steve’s final scene, and my views on this matter remain unchanged.

Six years have passed since “Avengers: Endgame” hit the screens, a fact that’s hard to believe given all the events, both in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and real life. However, it’s undeniable. Over time, I’ve come to realize that I’m not particularly fond of the way they wrapped up Steve’s storyline.

In my earlier piece, I explained that Steve’s decision to leave the current world seemed unusual given his close ties with Bucky, Sam, and others. Peggy was once a romantic interest for him, yet their relationship beyond the shared trauma of war was rather minimal. Although shared hardships can create a strong bond, does it provide enough foundation for a lifetime together?

This series seems perfect to shed light on the reason behind Steve choosing to stay with her instead of pursuing his previous life. It wouldn’t be unexpected if they had a strong history together, but given that they weren’t actually a couple, it feels surprising that he would give up his existing life for her.

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but wonder if we could delve deeper into their bond, the moments that led Steve to make such a life-altering choice. It would be fascinating to truly experience how their relationship evolved, and explore Steve’s inner turmoil – his decision to remain in the past and live out his days instead of returning to the present. However, what we get is just him coming back, aged.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m not saying the world is over, but it’d certainly add some exciting depth to the storyline. And let’s face it, we’ve caught glimpses of Peggy in live-action once more – remember when she appeared as Captain Carter in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”? Granted, it was brief, but just imagining her return to the screen is quite thrilling.

I Just Wish We Saw Chris Evans Again In Some Way

It seems my thoughts align with yours – I’d be quite open to Chris Evans reappearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) somehow. Previously, this idea hadn’t crossed my mind, but if we can have Robert Downey Jr. return as Doctor Doom in a different version, why not have Evans return as an alternate Steve Rogers or even better, develop a series featuring such characters?

I’d prefer not to have him appear as a brief cameo like the Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine. While that’s entertaining, it’s not the kind of Chris Evans role I’m craving. There’s potential for more with this concept, and it could branch off in various directions to suit his character well and provide a fitting farewell. For now, I guess I’ll just be patient.

It seems the Marvel Cinematic Universe is taking a new path with its TV series, so perhaps we’ll see Chris Evans return for another appearance if he chooses to do so. Only the future can reveal this.
