‘Madea’s Destination Wedding’ Trailer: Tyler Perry’s Iconic Character Goes Full Bahama Grandmama in Franchise’s 13th Film

This year, Tyler Perry’s iconic character, the firearm-carrying grandmother known as Madea, is commemorating her 20th anniversary. To honor this milestone, Madea is jetting off to the beautiful Bahamas for a wedding-themed adventure in “Madea’s Trip to the Bahamian Wedding.

Starting July 11, you can stream the latest Netflix film featuring Madea, marking Perry’s 13th Madea movie and his 30th production overall. It’s important to note that it’s not Madea who’s getting married; instead, she reluctantly agrees to attend her grand-niece’s impromptu wedding. The story unfolds when Brian (Madea’s nephew, Joe’s son, and played by Perry) and his ex-wife Debrah (Taja V. Simpson) discover that their daughter Tiffany (Diamond White) is set to marry Zavier (Xavier Smalls), a rapper she met on a yacht, and the wedding is just two weeks away.

Madea mentions that she is not allowed in 92 countries. She jokes, ‘I can’t just go to the Bahamas,’ in the recently released trailer. However, when reminded about an open bar, she confirms her attendance: ‘We’ll definitely be there.’

In a twist of events, Madea (portrayed by Perry), along with her companions – Aunt Bam (Cassi Davis Patton), Cora (Tamela J. Mann), Mr. Brown (David Mann) and Joe (once again, Perry) – unexpectedly find themselves on an island getaway, despite the uncomfortable seating arrangement on their flight that seems to be as snug as a mammogram exam.

Indeed, as hinted by our catchphrase, ‘Beaches, here we come!’ There’s a wealth of comedic gold waiting to be discovered in the array of pre-wedding festivities, such as the unruly bachelor and bachelorette soirees. Moreover, brace yourselves for a dose of high-stakes drama unfolding before the lovebirds take their walk down the aisle.

Madea expresses concern halfway through, stating, ‘Something’s off here,’ implying that something seems suspicious or wrong. She adds, ‘There’s definitely something amiss about this situation, and I truly believe there’s a problem with it entirely. If you can’t trust each other in a marriage, then there’s nothing left.’

Will the film conclude with a joyous wedding, or will Madea find herself prohibited from entering yet another nation? Only time will tell what happens in the end.

Tyler Perry’s ‘Destination Wedding‘ is one of five films he’s releasing on Netflix this year. The film is produced by Perry, Angi Bones, and Yolanda T. Cochran. This year, Perry introduced Part 2 of the drama series ‘Beauty in Black,’ followed by the new comedy series ‘She the People.’ Then, his latest movie ‘Straw’ featuring Taraji P. Henson debuted on Netflix and quickly rose to the top of the U.S. rankings. Next up is the faith-based film ‘R&B,’ a modern retelling of the biblical tale of Ruth and Boaz. Unlike most of his projects, Perry only served as producer for ‘R&B.’
