The movie debuted on a global scale at FIFA in Montreal, and went on to be chosen for screenings at Doc Edge New Zealand, CIFF Cambodia, and Balinale Indonesia. Later, Jambika Docs plans to present the film at Sheffield DocFest, Sunnyside of the Doc, and Docs Ireland, along with other festivals.

The movie made its first appearance on a global stage at FIFA in Montreal, before being picked for showings at Doc Edge New Zealand, CIFF Cambodia, and Balinale Indonesia. Eventually, Jambika Docs intends to introduce the film at Sheffield DocFest, Sunnyside of the Doc, and Docs Ireland, as well as other events.
The documentary titled ‘Loot’ showcases significant figures in the illegal artifacts trade within Cambodia, including ‘Blue Tiger,’ a former child soldier turned artifact restoration champion, and U.S. Homeland Security officials who spearheaded ‘Operation Indochina Peninsula Plunder.’ This operation successfully dismantled the operations of Douglas Latchford, a renowned British antiquities dealer.”
Or more briefly:
“The documentary ‘Loot’ highlights key figures in Cambodia’s illicit artifact trade. This includes ‘Blue Tiger,’ a child soldier-turned-artifact advocate, and U.S. Homeland Security agents who led the takedown of British dealer Douglas Latchford through ‘Operation Indochina Peninsula Plunder.’
The movie journeys, starting from the dilapidated temple ruins filled with landmines in Cambodia, up to the polished interiors of prestigious museums in London and New York. It portrays the breathtaking difference between those struggling in poverty who are looting artifacts, and the affluent individuals benefiting from their actions.
With stolen Khmer artifacts starting to come back, such as those returned in July 2024 from the Met Museum, the film “Loot” portrays the inspiring journey of a nation regaining its cultural essence.
Juan Solera, co-founder of Jambika Docs, stated that we obtained ‘Loot’ because it skillfully combines thorough research with profound emotion. This film uncovers a largely unexplored aspect of the art world, one that many are afraid to reveal. For us, it’s a compelling tale about justice, individuality, and global responsibility that should be shared far and wide.
The film is produced by New Theory Pictures in Canada.
