BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions has revealed “Vanishing Point,” a fresh and exciting comedy-action animated series conceived by Tom Gran and Martin Woolley, a talented pair of BAFTA award-winning writers and directors.
The announced series was jointly commissioned by BBC Children’s & Education and French broadcaster France Télévisions. BBC Studios Kids & Family, along with Watch Next Media based in France and Kavaleer Productions from Ireland, are collaborating on its production. This project also has the backing of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland (Ireland) and France’s National Film Board (CNC), with rights for global distribution.
In a run-down coastal community, the story unfolds around four youths: Ivy, Cole, Zefi, and Splash. Their lives take an unexpected turn when their hometown is invaded by ordinary-looking items that appear to harbor hidden extra-dimensional powers. As these seemingly innocuous objects bring chaos and havoc, the quartet finds themselves thrust into the role of unlikely saviors, working behind the scenes to solve the mystery surrounding these supernatural artifacts and safeguard their town from impending perils.
Cecilia Persson, director of BBC Studios Kids & Family, shared that ‘Vanishing Point’ provides a unique angle on action-filled storytelling that they are eager to unveil globally. They are dedicated to producing shows that connect with children everywhere, and having CBBC and France Télévisions as strong backers since the project’s inception has been incredibly beneficial.
Person stated that Watch Next Media and Kavaleer Productions plan to combine “innovative creativity with business savvy” to create a program that strikes the ideal mix of offbeat humor, action, and enigma.
Pierre Siracusa, the head of Animation, Young Audiences, and Education at France Televisions, shared that “Vanishing Point” is a humorous comedy-adventure that should strike a chord with viewers aged 8 and above.
