Xbox Boss Teases 2026 Plans, Including Possible Halo Release

Towards the conclusion of the Xbox Games Showcase by Microsoft, their Gaming CEO, Phil Spencer, hinted at the company’s strategies set for the year 2026 – a milestone marking 25 years since the inception of Xbox.

As a diehard gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news from Spencer himself! In 2026, we can anticipate the release of Gears of War: E-Day, the latest installment in the Fable series, and the next iteration of Forza. Moreover, he hinted at the comeback of a beloved classic that’s been with us since day one, leaving fans like me eagerly waiting for more details!

Many people interpret this as a nod towards the Halo series. Microsoft is currently developing several new Halo titles, one of which could potentially be a revamped version of the 2001 classic, Halo: Combat Evolved. Previous reports suggested that a remastered version of the initial Halo game was in development and might also be released for PS5.

2024 saw Microsoft revealing plans for fresh Halo series installments. Notably, instead of their in-house game engine, they opted for Epic’s Unreal Engine. Additionally, as part of this transition, the studio formerly known as 343 Industries was rebranded to Halo Studios.

2026 marks the 25th anniversary of Xbox, and it’s anticipated to be a significant event as some of its most renowned brands – Fable, Forza, Gears, and Halo – are expected to release new installments that year.

2025 will see the arrival of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 from Activision, along with The Outer Worlds 2 from Obsidian. However, fans will have to be patient until 2026 for Gears of War: E-Day. In the meantime, a remastered version of Gears of War 1, titled Gears of War 1 Reloaded, is set to launch this August.
