Life Is Strange Dev’s Next Game Is A Sci-Fi Adventure Where You Play As A Lost Astronaut

Don’t Nod announced its next game, Aphelion, at the Xbox Games Showcase.

In the unveiling teaser, I found myself captivated by Aphelion, where I assume the role as Ariane, an astronaut adrift on the freshly unearthed ninth celestial body in our solar system – Persephone (I’m sorry, Pluto). My mission: locate Thomas, a comrade-in-arms who parted ways with me at the game’s outset. Together, we’re scouting this alien world to determine if it can sustain human life following our species’ missteps on Earth.

From a gameplay perspective, the trailer doesn’t reveal too much, implying that the game may heavily emphasize story and decision-making, similar to previous games by Don’t Nod. However, it seems that platforming (and falling) could be recurring aspects of the gameplay experience. The ending of the trailer hints at an alien or supernatural theme, which might pose a threat to both Ariane and Thomas, since they appear to navigate through shifting realities as suggested by the trailer’s description.

Aphelion is set to launch for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC in 2026.
