Developers Paper Castle Games, in partnership with Publisher Fellow Traveller, have confirmed that the retro ’90s anime-styled role-playing game titled “Wander Stars” is set to release on August 1st. The game will be available for both Nintendo Switch and PC platforms including Steam, Epic, and GOG.
Back in October of last year, I eagerly learned about the upcoming release of Wander Stars. Now, you can get a taste of it by checking out the demo available on its Steam page. Mark your calendars for June 19th, because that’s when we fans will finally have the opportunity to participate in the player beta!
Below, you’ll find a trailer, description, and collection of screenshots for the upcoming release date. These assets are made available by Fellow Traveller.
As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that the talented indie developers at Paper Castle Games, alongside Fellow Traveller, have officially confirmed the arrival of Wander Stars – a unique turn-based JRPG – on PC and Nintendo Switch, hitting stores August 1st! With its anime-inspired setting, I can’t wait to embark on this one-of-a-kind adventure and share it with fellow gamers around the globe.
In their roles as aspiring martial artist Ringo and enigmatic rogue Wolfe, the duo embarks on a journey across the cosmos to find the fragments of the Wanderstar map. Spanning ten captivating episodes reminiscent of Cowboy Bebop, Dragon Ball Z, and One Piece, join these intrepid explorers as they unravel mysteries, experience unexpected shocks, discover astonishing surprises, and navigate through thrilling plot twists – all hallmarks of a legendary anime television saga.
Throughout their journey, Ringo and Wolfe will engage enemies using a distinctive martial art style that involves fists, feet, and verbal exchanges. This extraordinary combat system allows the heroes from Wander Stars to deliver damage and creativity in equal amounts by cleverly combining over 200 unlockable words. Some examples of powerful moves you can execute include “Strong!”, “Heat!”, “Smash!”, and “Phantom! Guard!”.
The customizable fights come with a genuine opportunity for massive destruction and clever tactics, featuring countless offensive and defensive maneuvers. Timing your moves (with cooldown periods), as well as understanding an enemy’s strengths and vulnerabilities, is crucial. Moreover, speaking respectfully (not just using words as weapons) can grant you exclusive phrases that could boost your power in future encounters. This not only helps you build alliances within the game but let’s be honest, isn’t it awesome to make friends while playing?
Interested players can register for an early access to the Wander Stars player beta on Steam as well. The beta is set to launch on June 19, allowing participants a more immersive experience within the game compared to the general Steam demo version.
