At June 6th, Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival and a recent cover star for EbMaster, presided over the annual Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program luncheon, held in collaboration with the renowned fashion house.
Miley Cyrus made an appearance a few hours prior to the debut of “Something Beautiful,” where she, Jacob Bixenman, and Brendan Walter will be directing this music project.
During my professional journey, others have often shared their versions and perspectives of my story, yet I’ve seldom had the chance to capture myself as I truly am. This opportunity to be the photographer or director, to present my story from my own point of view, feels incredibly personal and intimate because it allows me to share my narrative directly,” Cyrus expressed to EbMaster on the red carpet. “It’s a unique experience that lets me finally tell my story in my own voice.
In the course of her work on “Something Beautiful”, Cyrus, as a filmmaker, felt deeply connected to the project over the past few years. Despite being a globally recognized artist, she admitted to EbMaster that even now, she experiences a fluttering sensation – but this time, it’s a beautiful, exhilarating feeling.
This week in New York, the Grammy winner and Golden Globe nominee has multiple roles, yet she clarified that she’s not primarily focused on festive recognitions or further awards acknowledgments.
Cyrus emphasized that he doesn’t focus on the awards or trophies in his thoughts; instead, his goal is to make a positive impact on others. He considers these accolades as something else’s treasure.
At a star-studded gathering, Chanel ambassadors Riley Keough and Whitney Peak attended, accompanied by Rosenthal, as well as “The White Lotus” actors Parker Posey and Carrie Coon. Other notable figures included Lucy Liu, Mariska Hargitay, Olivia Munn, Patty Jenkins, Beanie Feldstein, Zosia Mamet, Annie Murphy, Mira Sorvino, Odessa Rae, Francesca Scorsese, Gina Gammell, and numerous others.
Rosenthal clarified that what makes the Through Her Lens program unique is that it has developed into a separate community,” he said.
Prior to the luncheon, Hargitay had a conversation with EbMaster regarding her upcoming North American debut of “My Mom Jayne” at Carnegie Hall. In this role, the “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” actor and filmmaker delves into the previously untold tale of her mother, Jayne Mansfield.
At the Chanel event, where Hargitay was chosen among inspiring filmmakers for future generations of creative women, she felt a bit emotional while walking the red carpet.
She emphasized that supporting fellow women in the arts is absolutely crucial, stating, “It’s everything!” The impact of one person’s belief in you is profound. When I reflect on those who believed in me, and my desire to reciprocate, it has the power to alter someone’s life course. It does. There’s no doubt about it.
Over the past decade, I’ve been consistently impressed by how Chanel and Tribeca Festival have shone the spotlight on and fostered connections with visionary female creatives in the industry. Together, they celebrate the growth of their flagship program, which was established in 2015 in partnership with Pulse Films. This mentorship program has thrived, offering industry support, artistic development, and funding to a new generation of U.S.-based self-identifying women and non-binary filmmakers.
