It appears that Tom Holland’s upcoming movie may draw inspiration from Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman’ during production, as they have decided to film in Scotland instead of New York City.
The city of Glasgow is expected to host filming for Spider-Man 4 starting mid-August, with Tom Holland once again playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Notifications about the production (tentatively titled ‘Blue Oasis’) have been circulated to residents in the city center this week, hinting at upcoming shooting scenes.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share that I’ve learned some intriguing news – our beloved Spider-Man is set to grace the streets of Richmond! According to recent reports from The Herald, the production crews are planning to capture scenes on Bothwell Street, St. Vincent Street, Waterloo Street, and Oak Street, with a continuation along Richmond Street.
Now, This means that these very streets will be off-limits for traffic for roughly a week while filming takes place. I can hardly wait to see how these iconic Scottish locations transform into the Marvel universe!
In recent times, Glasgow has been frequently chosen as a filming location, notably standing in for Gotham City in the movie “The Batman” featuring Robert Pattinson, and in the canceled “Batgirl” film. More recently, it also represented New York City in the latest “Indiana Jones” production. Upcoming, Glasgow is reported to be the site of Abrams’ first feature since 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. This upcoming project boasts a talented ensemble cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega, and Emma Mackey.
Information about “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” in Holland’s version is mostly kept secret for now. However, this movie will be included in Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The planned release date is July 31, 2026, which means it will come out several months before “Avengers: Doomsday”, which was initially set for December 18. Originally, “Doomsday” was scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026; reports suggested that both films were meant to coincide in time.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Adds New Cast Members
At present, specifics concerning the storyline of Spider-Man: Brand New Day are scarce, but over the past few months, we’ve been given a bit more insight into the film. Last month, during Disney’s Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation in Las Vegas, there was a hint that characters such as Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone might be featured.
After the release of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” Tom Holland’s Peter Parker becomes virtually unknown to the world. This sets the stage for a new chapter in his life, and some fresh characters are set to appear. In March 2025, it was confirmed that an actor officially joined the cast. By May, another actor had been announced as joining the production.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
