Mads Mikkelsen returns as iconic James Bond villain in Hitman World of Assassination

World of Assassination series can now track and eliminate Mads Mikkelsen, who once again portrays Le Chiffre, a character he played in Casino Royale.

After an unimpressive public appearance in 2024 where the controversial figure Conor McGregor briefly entered and exited the sphere of famed assassin Hitman, a fresh celebrity target has emerged, and it’s quite intriguing.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that Mads Mikkelsen, the charismatic actor known for his roles in Hannibal, Star Wars, and James Bond movies, has accepted another video game challenge following his work in Death Stranding. This time, he’ll be slipping into the role of a character we all know too well.

2006 saw Mads Mikkelsen’s portrayal of Le Chiffre, the initial adversary Daniel Craig faced. The tension was intense then, but it escalates now since this renowned antagonist enters the realm of Hitman: World of Assassination.

In an astonishing turn of events, Hitman and 007 are joining forces… That’s right, Agent 47 has a new objective: Eliminating Le Chiffre! #SummerGameFest #007GameIOI

Mads Mikkelsen enters Hitman World of Assassination

At the 2025 Summer Game Fest, the Danish actor was unveiled as part of the game’s cast. From now until July 6, gamers have the opportunity to explore a Parisian casino and hunt for Le Chiffre, but this task won’t be straightforward.

Mikkelsen stated after his on-stage appearance with Geoff Keighley, “This time around, things are a bit altered. Agent 47 won’t be able to outsmart me at poker; he’ll need to come up with another strategy.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel even more thrilled knowing that the talented team at IO Interactive is also developing the forthcoming James Bond: First Light game! What makes this news even sweeter is that players who get their hands on the game might just score an exclusive in-game reward.

By successfully finishing the latest James Bond mission within Hitman, you’ll unlock an as-of-yet unseen in-game prize specifically designed for 007: First Light. This reward can be claimed once the game is released in the year 2026.

There’s no telling what said reward may be, but it’s safe to expect some form of cosmetic.

Additionally, enthusiasts of Hitman can anticipate an array of Casino Royale-themed content, such as a fresh outfit for Agent 47 and some unique weapons. Interestingly, one weapon is reminiscent of the rope used by Le Chiffre in the 2006 film, either to ‘torture’ or ‘annoy’ Bond.
