Could Yurin Be Dragon Ball’s Next Z-Fighter?

Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series boasts captivating characters, whether they are noble allies or formidable enemies. One of the standout features of Dragon Ball is its extensive timeline that spans several decades, allowing for genuine character development, not just as martial artists, but as individuals. Tien Shinhan, an original Dragon Ball character, initially appears as Goku’s rival from the Crane School, but quickly becomes influenced by Goku’s selfless heroism. Throughout Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, Tien remains a significant figure, though he may not receive the same spotlight as characters like Vegeta, Gohan, or even Krillin. However, Dragon Ball makes it evident that martial arts remain Tien’s lifelong passion, serving as his driving force and guiding principle in life.

A dependable training companion can significantly influence a person’s personal growth. In the world of Dragon Ball, Tien often has Chiaotzu as his companion, yet their relationship doesn’t seem to have fostered significant development in Tien. The series hinted at other potential partners for Tien, like Launch, but none of these relationships lasted. Interestingly, Dragon Ball Super presents a temporary character during the Universe Survival Saga who could not only be an excellent teammate for Tien, but also a remarkable and distinctive Z-Fighter in her own right.

Yurin Is A Former Crane School Student With Ties To Tien’s Past

Yurin Is Presumably A Competent Martial Artist

In Dragon Ball Super, a significant portion of episodes revolves around the Tournament of Power, an intense multi-universe battle royale where losing means the destruction of one’s universe. Yet, an equal amount of time is dedicated to this high-pressure contest. Goku and Gohan gather many familiar characters for Team Universe 7, leading them to Tien’s martial arts dojo. In recent years, Tien established his own dojo as a means to pass on his martial arts knowledge to a fresh generation of enthusiastic students.

Among this group of students is Yurin, a one-time pupil from Crane School who has covertly been learning under Tien. She’s been biding her time, waiting for the right moment to exact revenge. In Dragon Ball Super Episode 89, “The Arrival of the Enigmatic Beauty! Unraveling the Mystery of the Tien Shin-Style Dojo?”, Yurin sets her scheme in motion. Yurin bears a deep grudge against Tien for abandoning Master Shen’s teachings, while she seems to have deeply internalized those principles herself. Yurin’s link to Master Shen forces Tien to confront his questionable past, a topic Dragon Ball had previously hinted at but never fully explored.

Moreover, given her background at Yurin’s Crane School, it can be assumed she is proficient in the traditional techniques that were once considered fundamental to the Crane School, as depicted in the original Dragon Ball. The series Dragon Ball reveals that Master Shen and his disciples possess telepathy and flight capabilities, but also advanced techniques such as the Solar Flare, Dodon Ray, and Tri-Beam. These formidable skills provide a solid foundation for Yurin’s abilities.

Yurin could bring a unique perspective to our group since she was trained by Tien. It’s reasonable to assume that she might have learned some of Tien’s signature moves, like the Multi-Form or Four Witches Techniques. However, unlike in the anime, Yurin doesn’t seem to naturally fly; instead, a jetpack is used for flight in Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle. Her character and history might need some adjustments, but the mysteries surrounding her time at the Crane School and Tien’s dojo provide fertile ground for developing Yurin’s story.

Yurin Is A Unique Wild Card To Add To The Cast

Dragon Ball Super Is In Need Of More Strong Female Fighters

In the anime “Dragon Ball Super,” Yurin’s unique encounter stirs up new disagreements with Master Roshi and Goku. Master Roshi, once a rival to Shen but also a close friend, now finds himself in a complex predicament with Yurin. The shared history with Shen might lead to an intriguing dynamic, given the existing tension between them due to Roshi’s past disrespectful behavior towards Yurin.

From my perspective as an ardent fan, exploring Yurin’s dynamic with Tien, Chiaotzu, and the venerable Roshi is intriguing. Yet, there’s something captivating about her potential interactions with other Dragon Ball characters too. For instance, the witty exchanges between Yamcha and Yurin could well become legendary.

In a refreshing change for Dragon Ball, it’s clear that more powerful female characters are needed, and a strong, dynamic, and empowered version of Yurin would be a fantastic addition to the storyline. While Caulifla and Kale from Dragon Ball Super were excellent additions, it remains uncertain if any characters from Universe 6 will reappear. Yurin’s skills as a proficient martial artist make her an essential character, and she could potentially excel where characters like Chi-Chi and Videl may have fallen short. Android 18 has already proven herself as a significant female hero in Dragon Ball, but Yurin is a promising candidate to join the ranks of powerful female characters.

As an observer, I’ve noticed the anticipation among fans for the character Launch to make a comeback. Indeed, she’s intriguing, yet her distinct condition may not equate to brute strength. Her forte seems to be in stealing and evading rather than mastering martial arts. In contrast, Yurin excels as a fighter and collaborates effectively with the Z-Fighters from Dragon Ball. If Dragon Ball Super were to lean towards more realistic martial arts, Yurin’s abilities could pave the way. She possesses a blend of traditional skills and extraordinary powers that sets her apart.

Yurin’s Witchcraft Skills Are A Unique Fighting Style

Witchcraft Would Greatly Expand Upon Dragon Ball’s Power System

In the thrilling world of Dragon Ball Super, I found myself utterly captivated by an unexpected shift – Yurin’s transformation! It was a delightfully intriguing twist that kept me on the edge of my seat. But what truly piqued my curiosity about her wasn’t just her combat style, it was her unique choice: she dabbles in the arcane arts!

Yurin possesses an enigmatic arsenal of dark talismans, which she uses to control unsuspecting souls, transforming them into Jiang Shi, a type of zombie-like minion. In a surprising move, she even manipulates Master Roshi with this power, using him against the heroes. The heroes managed to outsmart her tricks, but let me tell you, it was a close call!

What really got my imagination racing, though, was the potential for witchcraft to unfold in Dragon Ball. We’ve seen countless martial arts techniques and superpowers, but the mystical realms of sorcery have yet to be fully explored. Can’t wait to see where this leads in future episodes!

In Dragon Ball, it’s frequently emphasized that sorcerers such as Babidi and Moro possess an edge over the protagonists not due to conventional magic, but rather a form of supernatural power. This suggests a potential third path to power within Dragon Ball, or at least an extension of magic, which could enhance some of its underdeveloped characters.

Yurin could impart knowledge about sorcery to other psychically-gifted individuals like Chiaotzu, transforming them into powerful combatants once more. In the world of “Dragon Ball”, the realm of sorcery remains largely unexplored, offering a wide array of possibilities. Enhancing the power of weaker characters in this manner through traditional ki control might appear unnatural, but with witchcraft, it becomes a plausible and intriguing development.

Yurin, being well-versed in witchcraft, might also impart this knowledge to characters like Tien, Master Roshi, Goku, or Vegeta for an extra resource they can use when needed. While it may sound unusual, using witchcraft against Black Frieza – who has no prior experience with it – could potentially defeat this oppressor. This approach aligns thematically with King Piccolo’s Evil Containment Wave pacification technique. In terms of backstory, character development, and magical prowess, Yurin is a Dragon Ball character whose unique abilities could create significant impact if given the chance.
