Uncovering secrets and concealed scenes is a common occurrence across all Deltarune chapters, yet none have left players as puzzled as the enigmatic eggs. Since they don’t appear to serve any obvious purpose within the game, it’s no wonder they’ve ignited such curiosity among fans. And let’s not forget about the Gaster incident! Now, let me guide you on how to uncover the hidden egg in each chapter. Let’s dive in:
1. Chapter 1 – To find the egg, head to the left side of the room with the save point and look for a small area behind some boxes.
2. Chapter 2 – In the second screen where you encounter Susie, move the block that blocks your path to reveal a hidden egg.
3. Chapter 3 – After entering the first door, go straight ahead and look for a narrow passageway on your left. The egg is there!
4. Chapter 4 – Upon reaching the area with the giant fish, move the large stone at the bottom right corner to find the egg.
5. Chapter 5 – In the room with the three save points, go to the top-right corner and look for a small ledge to jump onto. The egg is there!
Chapter 1
In the opening section, following the Field of Aspirations and Ambitions, you’ll find yourself venturing into a wooded area. After progressing for a while, dodging adversaries along the way, you’ll encounter a screen adorned with a distinctive blue symbol. This is where fortune might be on your side. You’ll need to repeatedly switch between this screen and the previous one until you reach the chamber containing the egg.
Fret not, once you step into the egg chamber, the game will adjust your position so you can repeatedly tap back and forth until you manage it. The exact moment of your entry isn’t predictable; some players waited just 2 minutes while others needed up to 10. If this ‘easter egg’ hunt doesn’t suit your patience level, here is a glimpse of what the screen will look like.
After hiding yourself behind a tree, a man will hand you an egg and then vanish. You can’t use the egg for anything, but you can store it in Asgore’s refrigerator. Yes, this item does move between worlds. The story significance of this is unclear. Perhaps Toby Fox has a fondness for eggs.
Chapter 2
In the second chapter, after Noelle joins your team, you’ll find yourself following a specific path, with luck being another factor. This journey begins soon after her arrival, as you venture into the city. When you arrive at the screen featuring the traffic lights mini-game, proceed by moving downwards. Reach the bottom and turn left. You’ll discover an empty alleyway where Toby Fox (in a dog form) will seemingly run you over. I assure you, this isn’t a joke.
Following this event, you’ll find yourself transported to another spot. If you notice any graffiti depicting a tree, it means everything has gone according to plan. Now, let’s revert back to the strategies from Chapter 1. You’ll need to navigate between the alleyway and the main screen until you reach a fresh alleyway, which will be your new location.
Once more, a gentleman is hiding near a tree, pleased to make your acquaintance. Upon our encounter, he offers you an egg. Remarkably, the egg appears inert, allowing us to move on directly to Chapter 3.
Chapter 3
Following a span of three years in its creation, Chapter 3 introduces numerous elements, one of which is the intricate method to locate the egg. After navigating through the Television World and solving all the TV-related puzzles, you will move towards the bottom part of the screen and unlock the concealed door.
After you’ve opened the concealed door, follow the cutscenes like usual. You’ll encounter a series of events leading in one direction until you come across a recognizable mini-game. It’s not enough to simply complete the mini-game; you must carefully position the block at a particular spot. As Susie, collect the block and hurl it across the river between the bushes, as illustrated in the following image.
Exit the room, navigate towards the lower-right part of your screen’s interface, and proceed into the fresh location ahead. Continue moving in a southeasterly direction until you encounter a guard. When this happens, you’ll be asked some questions, and it’s crucial that you provide the right answers.
Q: You’re a cheater, ain’t ya?
A: Cheater.
Q: Where ya headed?
A: Nowhere.
Following these interactions, you’ll find yourself transferred to a fresh environment all by yourself. Along your path, there’s a small riddle represented as a puzzle piece to be placed correctly. Once you solve it, proceed ahead. Upon entering the next space, you’ll encounter an old man Non-Player Character (NPC), who is both in front of you and on the screen. You’ll need to engage in numerous conversations with him until a wardrobe mysteriously materializes within the game. Interact with this wardrobe and you’ll be rewarded with a Travel Pass.
First, let’s retrace our steps for a moment. Head towards the door that leads to Goulden Sam, then step into the room filled with trashcans (the frog room). In this room, you’ll find one closed trashcan. Interacting with it will trigger a battle against the resident frog.
Avoid getting involved in this current conflict. Here’s what you need to do: Press the Act button, then hold down the left directional key. This action will enable you to evade the situation and transport you to a place known as “Mancountry”. Feel free to explore and interact with whatever catches your eye, but to get the egg, just move upward. You’ll eventually come across a recognizable tree.
The individual hidden by the tree will pose a series of queries to you, and it’s essential that you provide accurate answers for each question in order to receive the egg.
Q: Will you forget me, too?
A: No
Q: I ask again, will you forget me?
A: No
Q: The whole world looked like this. Do you think so?
A: Yes
1. Q: Are my words clear to you?
A: Absolutely.
2. Q: Fancy a repeat of our meeting soon?
A: I’d be happy to meet again.
3. Q: Did you jot it down?
A: Yes, I took note of it.
If you answer all of this correctly, you will be given an egg.
Chapter 4
Currently, the only egg left in the game is the one you’re currently working with. As soon as we add new chapters, we’ll provide information about the upcoming eggs and their meanings. For the time being, let’s focus on finding the hidden egg in Chapter 4.
To reach your destination, make your way to the second sanctuary, followed by a long corridor adorned with colorful stained-glass windows. There’s been some confusion about which window is the right one, and many have overlooked the most straightforward clue. All of the windows appear identical, except for the correct one, which features an egg-shaped top instead of the usual circular design. Keep in mind that this unique window comes after you’ve passed the fourth Non-Player Character (NPC).
In this instance, everyone won’t have lady luck on their side again. You’ll find yourself needing to repeatedly access and re-access the hidden chamber until transported to a hospital. Make your way towards the door adorned with a tree. Upon entering, you’ll find yourself in absolute darkness. Interact with the prompts without any visual aid. Continue conversing until you encounter the prompt that asks, “May I draw?” Respond affirmatively. Following this exchange, several dialogue boxes will appear, concluding with an egg being added to your inventory – the last remaining one available.
What Do The Eggs Do?
Currently, there’s no definitive explanation for what the eggs represent in the game Undertale. Some players link them to Gaster, but I find that interpretation somewhat far-fetched considering the unused content. Others suggest the eggs symbolize Kris’s emotional state, with each room depicting a moment from their past. These moments include strolling through a park, venturing into a big city, indulging in video games, and even visiting a hospital. Each location holds great significance for Kris, but we lack sufficient clues to fully understand the picture yet.
