Dragon is Dead has exited early access and is now available on PC Steam

Publishers PM Studios and developers TeamSuneat have unveiled the significant version 1.0 update for their game, Dragon is Dead. This release marks the departure from Early Access, making the game accessible to players via Steam.

After debuting in June of last year, the side-scrolling roguelike action RPG has just released its 1.0 update, which includes the concluding chapter of the Dragon Slayer’s tale, a new female character, additional features, and more. As previously announced, this update also introduces new adversaries, legendary and mythic equipment, gear-enhancing abilities called quenching, and 16 difficult levels that become accessible upon completing the main game.

2024 marked the early access launch for our project, and now, after a full year, we’re excited to announce the official release of version 1.0!

As an ardent supporter, I’ve been thrilled to see the transformative changes our team has implemented during the Early Access phase. The insights gleaned from your valuable feedback have been instrumental in shaping our game, resulting in a core system overhaul, enhanced art quality, and UI/UX improvements. We’ve made it a priority to eliminate excessive elements, tailor the game for newcomers, and maintain its depth as a challenge for seasoned players. This has been achieved through rigorous testing and experimentation to ensure an engaging experience for all.

We have now completed the 1.0 update with these improvements.

1.0 Specifications

New Playable Character

She is a female hunter known as the “Beast Hunter.”
She uses a throwing spear and throwing daggers. She also utilizes the abilities of various beasts to fight in unique ways.

12 new Hunter Legendary Equipment items have been added.

Final Story Chapter and Final Boss

The truth hidden beyond the dragon is revealed.

  • The final chapter has been added.
  • Three new boss battles, including the final boss, have been added.

Difficulty Customization System

Players can set the difficulty level to their preferred settings. Up to 15 levels are available.
By default, when switching to Nightmare difficulty from the adventure, enemy attack power increases by 200% and health by 200%.
After each stage, enemy attack power increases by 50% and health by 100%, and the following effects are applied simultaneously. 

  • Environmental Threats (Up to 3 Stages)
    • Stage 1: Nightmare Stone – A Nightmare Stone falls at the player’s location every 7 seconds, dealing 150 fixed damage.
    • Stage 2: Venomous Pool – A Venomous Pool is generated at the player’s location every 7 seconds, dealing 50 fixed damage per second.
    • Stage 3: Aura of Fury – All bosses enter Berserker mode (attack power increases by 50% each time the boss’s remaining health drops to 75/50/25%)
  • Player Weakening (Maximum 4 stages)
    • Stage 1: All resistances “-10%”
    • Stage 2: All resistances “-20%”
    • Stage 3: All resistances “-30%”
    • Stage 4: All resistances “-40%”
  • Additional Elite Skill (Maximum 4 stages)
    • Stage 1: Resurrecting Skeletons – Continuously summons skeletons (1 every 5 seconds, maximum 30)
    • Stage 2: Dark Flames – Elites possess dark orbs that rotate around them. Colliding with a dark orb deals 50% of the Elite’s attack power as damage and reduces attack power by 50% for 5 seconds
    • Stage 3: Blitz Orb – Elites possess a relatively large lightning orb on their back. The Blitz Orb fires a lightning bolt toward the player every n seconds. The lightning bolt deals 80% of the Elite’s attack power as damage and stuns the player for 2 seconds.
    • Stage 4: Prison of Thorns – The Elite creates a Prison of Thorns area under the player’s feet every n seconds. The Prison of Thorns deals 40% of the Elite’s attack power as damage and inflicts 20% bleeding damage per second for 3 seconds.
  • Additional Boss Patterns (Up to Stage 4)
    • Stage 1: Longmore Pattern Added
    • Stage 2: Tormentor Pattern Added
    • Stage 3: Vargas Pattern Added
    • Stage 4: Buchalu Pattern Added

Maximum Equipment Level Expansion

  • Nightmare difficulty increases the maximum drop equipment level by 2 for every +1 stage.
  • However, the maximum shop level is unlocked upon clearing the final boss, Triple Ashat.

New “Mythic” Equipment Grade

Upon first clearing the final boss, Triple Ashat, 10 new “Mythic” grade equipment items are unlocked.
Obtained by paying currency to Burning Heart Dugni and randomly acquired.

New Blacksmith Hank’s Feature

  • Ember of Transcendence
    • Unlocked upon first clear of Mor.
    • Adds an additional option to equipment.
    • Unique options exclusive to Ember of Transcendence are available.
  • Quenching
    • Unlocked upon first clear of Final Boss “Triple Ashat”
    • Increases the maximum value of one option on the equipment.

New Stats: Overwhelming

  • Overwhelming activates with a 50% chance when hitting an enemy while under a shield. The damage dealt by Overwhelming increases by the same percentage as the enemy’s defense reduction.
  • You can increase the damage of Overwhelming with the Transcendence Ember feature.

As we gear up for the official launch, we’ve put in a lot of effort to enhance “The Dragon is Dead”. We’ve taken into account feedback and lessons from the early access phase, but we know there are more hurdles to overcome. Our focus will be on adjusting build balance, ensuring fair distribution of legendary items across new difficulty levels, making NPC quests and feature unlocks impactful, and addressing other relevant issues.

In Version 1.0, we expect that the fresh systems and areas we’ll unveil will provide you with immense pleasure.
