Lately, Clooney has transitioned from screen acting to the stage, taking on the role of Edward R. Murrow in a theater adaptation of the 2005 film with the same title. This production was highly praised and successful in the Broadway community, earning it a live television broadcast on June 7, 2025.

In a chat with Meyers, George Clooney discussed notable milestones in his acting career, among them roles where he portrayed a doctor. Notably, this includes his stint on the NBC medical drama titled “ER,” which was produced by Michael Crichton. On ER, Clooney appeared alongside Anthony Edwards, Juliana Margulies, Eriq La Salle, and Noah Wyle. When Meyers brought up The Pitt as one of his top picks for the year, Clooney enthusiastically added it to the list.

Have you all watched that series? I must admit, since we worked together on the pilot, we’ve become close friends. He’s an exceptional, talented individual, truly honorable. As confirmed by creator and writer R. Scott Gemmill, it is set during the Fourth of July weekend, approximately ten months following the events depicted in Season 1.
