2025 saw the emergence of the powerfully moving medical drama, “The Pitt,” surpassing predictions by rejuvenating the genre’s appeal. It was remarkable for its authenticity and grittiness, reflecting the true-to-life struggles faced by healthcare professionals. The series kept viewers captivated as it followed a gripping narrative of a 15-hour shift in the ER of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital, with Noah Wyle’s portrayal of Dr. Michael Robinavitch, or Robby, standing out among all performances. Notably, George Clooney, a renowned actor from the classic series “ER” and now a Broadway icon, applauds this exceptional performance.
According to TV Insider, George Clooney, known for roles in O Brother, Where Art Thou? and From Dusk Till Dawn, made an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers to publicize his current Broadway play, Good Night, and Good Luck. Lately, Clooney has transitioned from screen acting to the stage, taking on the role of Edward R. Murrow in a theater adaptation of the 2005 film with the same title. This production was highly praised and successful in the Broadway community, earning it a live television broadcast on June 7, 2025.
In a chat with Meyers, George Clooney discussed notable milestones in his acting career, among them roles where he portrayed a doctor. Notably, this includes his stint on the NBC medical drama titled “ER,” which was produced by Michael Crichton. On ER, Clooney appeared alongside Anthony Edwards, Juliana Margulies, Eriq La Salle, and Noah Wyle. When Meyers brought up The Pitt as one of his top picks for the year, Clooney enthusiastically added it to the list.
Have you all watched that series? I must admit, since we worked together on the pilot, we’ve become close friends. He’s an exceptional, talented individual, truly honorable. As an older person, I can honestly say I’m thrilled for his success in the show. The series itself is truly captivating, and he does a fantastic job with it.
Back then, during my time on ER, I’d be honest with you – those scenes we called ‘oners’ were quite a challenge. These scenes often spanned 12 pages, as the actor put it. That meant, no room for mistakes. If anyone messed up, even just a line or two, we had to restart the entire scene from scratch. It was like walking a tightrope, but the thrill of getting it right kept us going!
Later in the interview, he playfully commented that Wyle found no issue whatsoever with memorizing these intricate lines, a talent he likely drew upon during the production of The Pitt. This can be translated as: “But it was always easy for him. He could do it without any hassle. And I resented him for that. People should envy Noah.
