In the second episode of “Love Island USA” Season 7, contestant Yulissa Escobar was asked to leave the villa following the reemergence of old podcast recordings where she used offensive racial language.
In my opinion, as a movie reviewer, I found Yulissa’s departure from the villa on last night’s show to be quite abrupt and underdeveloped. It wasn’t until the 18-minute mark that we heard Iain Stirling, our trusty narrator, announce her departure. The way it was handled left me wondering if Yulissa had been quietly removed during the night or if the clever editors simply chose to omit her from the episode. Either way, her exit lacked sufficient context and left viewers like myself questioning the narrative flow of the show.
After becoming part of the show, Escobar has encountered significant criticism online due to old podcast recordings that showed up again where she used racial slurs. Clips acquired by TMZ reveal her repeatedly using the N-word in discussions about past romantic connections.
Supporters aired their disapproval on various social platforms, posting numerous comments on her Instagram. They vowed to remove her from the show whenever voting options opened up via the “Love Island” app. So far, Escobar hasn’t addressed the criticism.
It’s not just Escobar whose online presence was revealed; shortly after Peacock announced the Season 7 contestants, someone posted screenshots on X of Austin Shepard’s suspected TikTok ‘likes’, which contained multiple posts expressing support for President Donald Trump. Despite this, Shepard continues to be a part of the cast.
Here are the current islanders: Chelley Bissainthe, Huda Mustafa, Belle-A Walker, Olandria Carthen (females), and Ace Greene, Taylor Williams, Nicolas Vansteenberghe, Jeremiah Brown (males). The new arrivals to the villa on night one are Cierra Ortega and Charlie Georgiou, who were introduced as bombshells. Ariana Madix, a former star of “Vanderpump Rules”, took over hosting duties for this season.
The highly anticipated seventh season of “Love Island USA” debuted on June 3rd, streaming on Peacock. Due to some technical issues, there was approximately a 45-minute postponement before viewers were introduced to the 10 contestants eager to win the $100,000 prize and find true love in this tropical setting.
“Love Island USA” is currently streaming on Peacock.
