Greetings, fellow Elden Ring: Nightreign players! A friendly reminder from one enthusiast to another: Instead of rushing to gather flask charges by visiting chapels at the beginning of each game, consider exploring other areas first for a more immersive experience and better equipment. Happy gaming!
It seems I’m not alone in my sentiments! Members of our Nightfarers community have been vocalizing a similar Public Service Announcement recently, voicing their irritation over a seemingly frequent behavior among random players while queueing in Nightreign.
In the game Nightreign, each map is filled with several small churches or chapels that offer a complimentary upgrade to your healing potion, providing an additional boost. This is truly advantageous! It’s worth seeking them out. However, as players have grown accustomed to this bonus and learned about its guaranteed, free nature, an unusual behavior has emerged: players are rushing from chapel to chapel without doing anything else, bypassing monster camps and other rewards in favor of a sprint for five minutes to gather a charge, then another sprint for five more minutes, repeating until it’s nighttime.
The issue here lies primarily in the fact that amassing flasks might seem beneficial, but it’s counterproductive when facing an opponent like Wormface who can instantly defeat you. Successful gameplay, specifically of Nightreign, requires a delicate balance. With darkness approaching rapidly and the imminent arrival of the boss, each moment should be utilized strategically by battling progressively tougher enemies, looting camps, acquiring superior weapons and gear, and enhancing your character level. If you’re not at least level five or six before nightfall initially strikes, the boss will easily obliterate you in a single hit – extra flasks won’t make a difference.
A more efficient approach would be to minimize your travel time by moving swiftly between nearby locations rather than racing across the map. It makes sense to collect flask charges strategically while also raiding camps and engaging sub-bosses. However, despite this strategy, I often find myself matched with players who insist on pinning chapels repeatedly and venturing off alone when our plan involves a lengthy chase for a flask charge. Friend, I’m playing Recluse! I don’t have any HP to spare for healing, so I need a coordinated effort instead of being chased across the map!
Absolutely! It’s important to nurture our spiritual side by seeking guidance from Marika, our divine figure. However, it’s also perfectly fine to indulge in other activities outside of religion, such as honing my gaming skills against that Abductor Virgin in the courtyard. By conquering him, I can unlock a new map atop the tower and snag a fresh staff from the rack nearby. Thanks for understanding this balanced approach!
