Jimmy Fallon took the good with the bad during his time on “Saturday Night Live.”

In a recent episode of “The Diary of a CEO” podcast, Fallon shared that during his early days as a comedian on “SNL”, his aim was to please everyone with his acts. Later, he understood that such a goal is unattainable, but it felt terribly disappointing when his jokes failed to resonate at the time.

Fallon expressed, ‘I wish everyone could take a liking to me.’ I dislike negativity. It leaves me wondering, ‘What more can I offer to gain your approval?’ However, I’ve realized that it’s impossible to please everyone. One should simply focus on their own actions and strive for excellence in those areas. Ultimately, being content with oneself is crucial.

From 1998 to 2004, I was fortunate enough to grace the stage of Saturday Night Live. During that period, I had the pleasure of co-hosting “Weekend Update” with Tina Fey and brought to life an iconic impersonation of Barry Gibb in the “The Barry Gibb Talk Show” sketch.

Fallon shared that when he joined “SNL,” he believed everyone would be backing and uplifting his performances. However, he soon discovered that wasn’t always true.

As a cinephile, I’ve come to realize that some individuals seem to root for my downfall. Their profession revolves around undermining me and spreading negative publicity. It’s their job, yet it feels like a sneaky jab. I don’t dwell in that realm, I don’t buy into the idea that it’s genuine, but unfortunately, it does exist. Occasionally, I find myself thinking, ‘Wow, people can be quite unkind.’

In the month of February, 2014, Jimmy Fallon began hosting “The Tonight Show,” replacing Jay Leno. Since then, the show has garnered two Emmys: one in 2014 for exceptional interactive program and another in 2015 for outstanding creative accomplishment in the interactive media field.
