In Elden Ring Nightreign, Libra, the Creature of Darkness, serves as the ultimate boss for the Equilibrous Beast expedition. Known for being one of the most challenging Nightlords in the game, it poses a significant threat primarily through its capacity to induce madness among the party and its difficult-to-avoid area-of-effect attacks.

This boss demands a certain level of patience, rather than a full-on assault approach. It’s also easier to handle if players spend some time preparing and go into the battle with an appropriately balanced team configuration.

This boss in Elden Ring called Nightreign is quite challenging if you’re not well-prepared. This guide will offer tips on how to prepare, recommend an ideal team setup, and explain the fight mechanics against Libra so you can stand a better chance of success.

Recommended Team Composition

Choosing a character you feel at ease with is crucial, but having an appropriately balanced team could make battling Libra, the Creature of Night much smoother.

I suggest this trio for your team: Ironeye, Wylder, and Recluse. They function exceptionally well as a group, possessing unique skills that give them an edge in combat.

  • Ironeye: Ironeye is one of the best revivers in the game due to his ability to shoot downed allies from afar. This makes any boss fight much easier. He also has an Ultimate that is great at putting the boss in a stunned state, opening him up for attacks.
  • Recluse: Since Madness is effective against Libra, Recluse can use Frenzy spells to deal high damage. Keep on the lookout for The Flame of Frenzy, Unendurable Frenzy, Frenzied Burst, or Howl of Shabiri incantation spells. Even if you don’t find an incantation that inflicts Madness, Recluse is still very useful for her healing capabilities.
  • Wylder: I was going to choose Raider for this spot (who is still a good choice), but Wylder is quicker at attacking, making him the better option. He has a good amount of HP, deals high damage, and has an Ultimate ability that can easily stagger Libra.

Weaknesses and Preparation

Preparedness is crucial when facing any Nightlord within the realm of Elden Ring: Nightreign. Each Nightlord carries an inherent weakness, and in the case of Libra, Creature of Night, that weak point lies in Madness.

Previously mentioned, Recluse excels at inflicting high Madness damage due to her impressive Faith stat. However, you’ll have to explore extensively to discover a Frenzy spell, as she doesn’t start with one by default. Incantations are connected to Sacred Seals, which can be discovered in treasure chests, castles, and forts.

In case your fellow teammates aren’t using the Recluse class, remember that they might not be able to fully harness the power of Madness spells. Therefore, if you come across a Madness spell first, it would be wise to signal for the use of Madness spell by Recluse.

Regardless of Libra’s vulnerability to Madness, this Nightlord can still instigate it. To shield yourself from accumulating too much Madness, keep an eye out for yellow items known as Boluses that boost your resistance to Madness. Remember, these Boluses stack and last throughout the expedition, so try to use as many as you can find.

Absolutely, you’d strive your best to attain a substantial level prior to Day 3. This can be accomplished by defeating the bosses located in camps, castles, and those roaming the fields. Aim for a level of at least 12 before tackling Libra, the Night Creature, for optimal results.

As a seasoned gamer, let me share some tips from my experience: Don’t forget to equip Relics that boost your resistance against Madness. They might be hard to come by, but trust me, it’s worth taking a moment to check if you have any before embarking on your next expedition.

How to Beat Libra, Creature of Night

Prior to delving into Libra’s fighting style, let’s first discuss the options presented at the onset of the battle. Once inside the Nightlord arena, players will encounter Libra and be given an opportunity to select from a variety of proposals.

The choices you make among these offers could significantly shift the battle’s outcome. For instance, selecting the option to advance rapidly would immediately elevate your character to level 15. However, each sip from your flask would result in a decrease of one level.

Conversely, should you agree to obtain a mythical weapon, you’ll immediately decrease your level by three. Certain options also grant benefits for both you and Libra.

frankly speaking, I would advise against choosing any of these deals and focusing on countering Libra instead. The downsides significantly overshadow the upsides, potentially placing you at a significant disadvantage in the conflict.

Libra, Creature of Night Attack Breakdown

As we prep for the confrontation with Libra, the Creature of Night, here’s a breakdown of its moveset to help you stay one step ahead:

– I’ve studied its patterns and compiled a list of attacks it likes to use in battle.
– Knowing when these strikes are coming will give you a tactical advantage.
– Plus, knowing what each attack looks like can help you anticipate its moves and react accordingly.

Moveset Description
Staff Attack Libra will swing its staff and then stab it on the ground, creating an AoE slam attack.
Madness Rays Libra will turn its fist yellow and then shoot off rays of sharp Madness crystals.
Madness Circles Libra will glow yellow and its fist will turn yellow. Frenzy circles will appear on the map that explode after a couple seconds. These explode quicker the farther you get into the fight.
Teleportation Libra will raise its staff and go invisible and then reappear at the location of one teammate. An explosion comes right after Libra reappears.
Meditation Libra will shield itself in a ball and go into a meditation stance. After exiting this stance, Libra will be stronger and more aggressive.
Fist Slam Explosion Libra will gain strength and jump around, slamming its fist on the ground in three different locations. Libra will then create a pool of Frenzy on the ground, which creates an explosion.
Madness Rain Libra will reach into the air and create Frenzy from the sky, that rains down on the player. It’s best to run away during this attack.
Madness Arena Libra will slam its staff into the ground, covering the entire arena in Frenzy and inflicting Madness. Using yellow Boluses on day 1 and 2 will help counter this.

First Phase

As a gamer, I’d say: It’s smart to keep Wylder near Libra, while Ironeye and Recluse engage from a safe distance. If a teammate charges head-on, not only does the health bar deplete quicker, but Libra performs fewer ranged attacks when someone’s up close. Instead, it switches to physical attacks.

When Libra performs ranged attacks, there are two distinct types: firstly, yellow circles appear on the ground and detonate shortly after; dodging to one side repeatedly is a smart tactic for avoiding these explosions. Secondly, try not to get trapped in an attack sequence by continuously attacking yourself, because if you do, you won’t be able to dodge effectively.

As a fan, I’m ready for when Libra unleashes a barrage of Frenzy Rays heading my way next. Ducking or rolling to the sides will help me dodge these easily. Meanwhile, this attack provides an excellent chance for my teammates who aren’t targeted to inflict some damage on Libra!

In your battle against Libra, try to use your Frenzy spells frequently whenever you can. This tactic should help disrupt the majority of its attacking strategies, and it applies equally well during Phase 2 as well.

Second Phase

In the subsequent stage, we see an intensification of the assaults from Phase 1, with each strike packing a greater punch and causing more Madness accumulation. Furthermore, Libra now adopts a defensive strategy, enveloping itself in a protective barrier and assuming a meditative posture.

When Libra erects a shield and starts meditating, players should focus on eliminating the circular symbols that are glowing yellow around the boss. If you manage to destroy all of them before Libra finishes meditating, it will stun the boss, providing an excellent opportunity for attack. Failing to eliminate the symbols will only make Libra grow stronger.

Ironeye is great at shooting the sigils from a distance.

An alternative method to disrupt Libra during meditation could be having one of your teammates employ their most potent skill on the protective barrier. Usually, this action would cause Libra to lose balance and fall.

If you successfully interrupt the meditative animation of the Elden Ring Nightreign’s creature, Libra, your team will be able to inflict more damage, andLibra won’t grow stronger as a result. This is the crucial strategy for defeating Libra, the Creature of the Night.
