Mass Effect 5 Will Carry Over A Piece Of The Series’ Signature Style, Apparently

Information on the upcoming Mass Effect game remains scant, however, producer Mike Gamble recently disclosed a tiny piece of news concerning a potential reappearance of a characteristic in the next installment: the use of lens flare.

On social media, Gamble replied with a “Okay” emoticon to a fan who commented, “Mass Effect 5 should continue with its tradition and include an abundance of lens flares.

The Mass Effect series stands out for its frequent and imaginative application of a cinematic technique called lens flare, a visual element made famous by filmmakers such as JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg in Hollywood. Although video games don’t utilize physical cameras like movies do, titles like Mass Effect incorporate lens flare to create dramatic and stylistic impacts.

Gamble’s emoji hint doesn’t guarantee anything definitively, but it strongly implies that a particular characteristic from previous titles might resurface in the upcoming game. With BioWare being relatively quiet about the project thus far, fans eagerly grasp at any tidbit of information they can find.

Since there are currently no plans for an expansion of Dragon Age: Veilguard, Bioware’s team is now focusing on developing the next Mass Effect title. A release date hasn’t been announced yet, but fans have only seen a handful of previews or hints from the developers so far.

Beyond just a fresh Mass Effect video game, there are rumors of a Mass Effect television series being developed by Amazon MGM Studios, who are also responsible for the upcoming film titled Split Fiction, featuring Sydney Sweeney.
