Mario Kart World’s Cow Is A Bigger Hit Than Nintendo Imagined, May Not Be A Cannibal

Apart from its $80 price tag, a significant topic surrounding Mario Kart World for the Switch 2 is the character of the Cow. Producer Kosuke Yabuki has addressed the buzz about this bovine character and confirmed that indeed, the Cow consumes burgers. However, it’s been suggested that these burgers might not be made from real beef.

Yabuki shared with IGN that the idea of incorporating Cow was something we pondered over, believing it would delight fans if implemented. To our delight, the response from the audience exceeded all expectations, making it an unexpected and joyful surprise for us.

Earlier on, we talked about how a humorous drawing paved the way for the creation of one of our game’s most beloved characters – the Cow, who has been gaining significant popularity as the release date approaches.

In his continued explanation, Yabuki mentioned that the release of Cow served as a significant catalyst for Nintendo, as it sparked curiosity among the developers, leading them to ponder, “Perhaps we could include more characters.” This thought process subsequently influenced their decision to introduce both Penguin and Pokey.

Yabuki explained that since all the characters were introduced quite swiftly as the designers got a bit overzealous, it’s become challenging for him to recall which character would have followed Cow in the sequence. In simpler terms, he mentioned that after approving Cow’s concept, he found himself overwhelmed with approximately 10 proposals for other characters just the next day.

In Mario Kart World, a new feature allows characters to pause at roadside eateries for food. This has sparked curiosity about whether the Cow character might stop for a burger or steak. Indeed, it can, but this doesn’t automatically imply that it’s eating meat from its own species. Regarding the specific diet of the Cow, Kabuki stated, “I regret to inform you that I can’t disclose that information.

On June 5, Mario Kart World debuts as a launch game for the newly released Switch 2. If you’re lucky enough to find it in stock, you can save money by opting for the $500 bundle that includes Mario Kart World along with the Switch 2 console.
