‘The Sandman’ Season 2 Reveals Surprise Bonus Episode and All 12 Episode Titles

Originally, it was believed that “The Sandman” series would conclude at the end of Season 2, but now fans can look forward to an additional episode compared to their initial expectations.

On Tuesday, Netflix announced an extra twist: apart from the eleven episodes initially planned, an additional twelfth episode, titled “The Sandman Presents: Death: The High Cost of Living,” is set to be released on July 31. This bonus installment will center around the character Death, portrayed by Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

Previously declared, the opening six episodes of Season 2 are set to release on July 3rd, followed by the remaining five on July 24th. Netflix has unveiled the names of these episodes too, which are listed below for your viewing convenience.

In its second season, we’ll see a number of beloved storylines from the comics unfold, such as “Season of Mists,” “Brief Lives,” “The Kindly Ones,” and “The Sandman: Overture” anthologies. Additionally, individual issues like “Tales in the Sand,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “The Song of Orpheus,” “Thermidor,” and “The Tempest” will also be featured, along with several other stories.

In the summary for the last chapter of “The Sandman,” it is stated that following a momentous meeting with his kin, Dream of the Endless (played by Tom Sturridge) encounters a succession of seemingly insurmountable choices as he endeavors to rescue himself, his realm, and the world of mortals from the catastrophic consequences of his past errors. In an effort to make restitution, Dream will square off against both ancient allies and adversaries, deities, monstrous beings, and humans alike. The road to redemption, however, is fraught with unforeseen curves and the true price of absolution might demand everything from Dream. This second season of ‘The Sandman’ promises to unravel Dream’s narrative right up to its exciting finish, based on the cherished, award-winning DC comic series.

In addition to Sturridge and Howell-Baptiste, the cast for Season 2 also features Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, Esmé Creed-Miles, Adrian Lester, Barry Sloane, Patton Oswalt, Vivienne Acheampong, Gwendoline Christie, Jenna Coleman, Ferdinand Kingsley, Stephen Fry, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Razane Jammal, Ruairi O’Connor, Freddie Fox, Clive Russell, Laurence O’Fuarain, Ann Skelly, Douglas Booth, Jack Gleeson, Indya Moore, and Steve Coogan.

Previously reported by EbMaster, Netflix’s “The Sandman” series, led by showrunner Allan Heinberg, had already planned for the second season to be its last even before filming began in the summer of 2023. The streaming platform, however, did not confirm the show’s conclusion until January this year, a timing that aligns with allegations of sexual misconduct against Neil Gaiman, the series’ graphic novel author and executive producer.
