If you’ve been curious about whether Mark Hamill stays involved in future Star Wars films following Luke Skywalker’s death in The Last Jedi, this could provide some insight. In response to questions regarding his character’s potential return for the upcoming Rey-centered film, Hamill delivered a surprisingly amusing comment that may have given us a clue about the situation.
In the Star Wars series on Disney+, Mark Hamill has reappeared as Luke Skywalker a few times, but it seems his cinematic journey might be nearing its end. During an interview for The Life Of Chuck, Comicbook.com asked him if he would appear as a Force Ghost in Daisy Ridley’s future appearances within the franchise. Remarkably, Hamill stated that he was unaware of such a project.
In what? Oh, I don’t know about that.
Currently, there’s a question as to whether Mark Hamill is truly unaware that Daisy Ridley is rejoining the Star Wars series, or if he’s keeping it a secret due to confidentiality reasons and adding an element of mystery to his role.

On Disney+, you can now enjoy Star Wars from the comfort of your home by subscribing to their service. The subscription starts at just $9.99 per month for their ad-supported plan. If you prefer an ad-free experience, it’s $15.99 per month. Or save 16% and pay $159.99 for a year’s worth of entertainment. Check out the deal!
It’s difficult to imagine that, should Disney bring Rey back to the big screen, Mark Hamill wouldn’t be considered for a similar return to his role, much like how Alec Guinness appeared as the Force Ghost Obi-Wan for Luke.

13 Star Wars Movie Facts You Probably Didn’t Know
Despite Mark Hamill expressing some reluctance about returning to the Star Wars franchise in the past, it seems unlikely that no one from the production team didn’t extend an offer to him given his iconic role as Luke Skywalker. Fans of Star Wars may have to prepare themselves for the possibility that he might not be part of the upcoming projects.
I find myself pondering over this topic. Although it might seem unusual that Mark Hamill claims he hasn’t heard about the upcoming Rey movie, it’s important to remember that we are still quite far from its theater release. As of now, the movie isn’t scheduled for 2026 and filming has not yet commenced. Given these circumstances, it seems reasonable to assume that there wouldn’t be a need to involve Hamill at this stage, particularly if his role is anticipated to be minor, such as a Force Ghost in the storyline.
Let’s wait until filming for the Rey movie officially starts to know for certain. In the meantime, it’s a fantastic opportunity to rewatch all the Star Wars movies sequentially, as we gear up for the anticipated theater release of The Mandalorian and Grogu in 2026.
