It appears that the production of the movie “Split Fiction” is moving forward, as reports suggest that Amazon MGM Studios are close to finalizing a deal to obtain the rights for the film, potentially featuring Sydney Sweeney. (Deadline’s information)
It’s said that talented filmmaker John M. Chu might take up the directorial role, while Ryan Reynolds, famously known as Sweeney, is rumored to be the lead actor. The screenplay for this project is being penned by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who are well-known for their work on Deadpool.
The deadline stated that there was intense competition over the movie rights for Split Fiction, with Amazon MGM Studios emerging as the victor in the bidding war. It was also mentioned that Sony Pictures was a strong competitor in the race.
In the narrative of Split Fiction, we follow the journey of two characters, Mio and Zoe, who find themselves trapped within a simulation created by a tech firm that employs AI to materialize their creative thoughts. The plot unfolds across a range of imaginative backdrops and situations. It’s rumored that Tom Hardy, known as Sweeney, is being considered for the role of one of these writers.
Hazelight Studios, under the leadership of director Josef Fares, created the popular game known as Split Fiction. As per its publisher, Electronic Arts, this game has sold close to 4 million copies worldwide. Excitingly, with a new project in the works, Hazelight is now busy at work, and Fares expresses optimism about its success.
It isn’t as if we’re worrying about surpassing ‘Split Fiction’ or outdoing ourselves, we’re simply excited to show you what’s coming next. I acknowledge it may sound overconfident, but that’s the level of faith we have in our work,” he explained.
So far, Fares has overseen four games: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons for Starbreeze, followed by A Way Out, It Takes Two, and most recently Split Fiction, produced under his own studio, Hazelight. The standout success among these projects is It Takes Two, which has sold a staggering 23 million copies. In comparison to It Takes Two, Split Fiction boasted nearly double the budget.
TopMob’s Split Fiction review scored the game a 10/10.
