Gkids has acquired the North American distribution rights to “Shin Godzilla.”
The movie is helmed by Hideaki Anno, famously known for “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” and Shinji Higuchi, recognized for “Shin Ultraman.” The screenplay is penned by Anno, while visual effects are handled by Higuchi. In this film, the Prime Minister of Japan urges tranquility among citizens following a monstrous being’s terrifying arrival in a city, causing devastation and loss. However, the creature undergoes further development. The Japanese government then mobilizes an eclectic group to confront the beast. But just as they prepare, an emissary from the US Department of State hands over confidential files. On their cover is the ominous name: Godzilla.

The distributor plans to present “Shin Godzilla” in its native Japanese language with English subtitles, featuring restored intertitles and a 4K remaster that has yet to be seen in North America.
