Encounters with celebrities don’t always live up to our expectations. They can fall short, and this was the case for Danny Lyon, author of the book that served as inspiration for one of Tom Hardy’s recent films titled The Bikeriders. Unfortunately, it was Tom Hardy himself who disappointed him. Notably, Hardy tends to avoid interactions on film sets, a trait previously noted by Patrick Stewart, who collaborated with him in the movie Star Trek: Nemesis.

It appears that Tom Hardy is reportedly hard to approach on set, as suggested by Lyon’s account. According to the author of “The Bikeriders,” when he tried to meet Hardy, he was informed he couldn’t even catch a glimpse of the actor. Consequently, Lyon was instructed to conceal himself behind a tree.

Despite their efforts to prevent me, I managed to reach my destination at last. Man, it’s really cold! All I desire is to meet Tom Hardy.

Upon arriving on the set, they instructed me not to gaze at him. I inquired as to the reason behind this rule, to which they responded that he dislikes being looked at.

So they make me hide behind a tree and all this bulls**t.

Sometimes, it’s not unusual for actors to request that people on set avoid speaking to them during scene transitions. This is because many actors continue to embody their characters even during breaks, so they often move aside to ensure they aren’t interrupted.

It’s possible that this situation was similar for Hardy too, which could explain why Lyon’s encounter with him didn’t turn out as the author had hoped.
