The cast consists of Oscar Isaac (Dr. Victor Frankenstein), Mia Goth (Elizabeth), Ralph Ineson (Professor Krempe), Jacob Elordi (The Monster), Christoph Waltz (Harlander). The rest of the cast includes Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Covery and Charles Dance.

In May, during the Cannes Film Festival, director del Toro revealed that his interpretation of the lumbering, undead creature from Mary Shelley’s horror tale would be more compassionate compared to certain past portrayals.

During a chat with the award-winning composer Alexandre Desplat, Del Toro was recently asked whether the film contains truly frightening moments. In response, he admitted that it was something he hadn’t previously contemplated. The story is deeply emotional for me, as it’s very personal and touches on themes such as fatherhood and sonship. However, I want to clarify that this isn’t a horror movie; it’s not my intention to create one.

Del Toro takes on the roles of both screenwriter and director, as well as being the film’s producer. Alongside him in production duties are J. Miles Dale, Melissa Girotti, and Scott Suber.

The film is expected release to in November 2025.
