In response, James Gunn, a key figure at DC, spoke about the competition between these upcoming blockbusters. Upcoming, Marvel is all set to debut “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” helmed by director Matt Shakman and featuring an impressive cast including Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Julia Garner, and Ralph Ineson. Marking the start of Phase 6, this film will be Marvel’s First Family’s initial big screen appearance in the MCU. The story unfolds with the Fantastic Four already several years into their heroic journey, prior to being assigned a mission to prevent cosmic villain Galactus from destroying their world.

On July 11, you’ll see Superman make his cinematic premiere, while The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to hit theaters two weeks after on July 25.

Is There a Rivalry Between Marvel and DC In 2025?

It’s worth noting that Marvel and DC find themselves in distinct positions when it comes to their presence in the movie industry. While DC aims to make a strong debut with Creature Commandos launching their new series towards the end of 2024, Marvel is banking on The Fantastic Four becoming its next major success following a series of challenges in the Multiverse Saga.
