Monster Hunter Wilds Finally Adding Iceborne Feature Fans Have Wanted Since Launch

At long last, Capcom is incorporating a highly-anticipated feature into Monster Hunter Wilds, which was initially launched for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X in February. Given we’re nearly at the halfway point of the year, it’s worth mentioning that MH Wilds continues to reign as the top-selling game of 2025, outperforming heavyweights like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Despite its widespread success, Monster Hunter Wilds has sparked a fair amount of controversy among fans. The most evident manifestation of this discord is the “Mixed” rating it holds on Steam. A common criticism revolves around the numerous features that are absent from the game, even those that were present in earlier Monster Hunter titles such as Monster Hunter World.

As a dedicated enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Capcom has officially announced the inclusion of Layered Weapons in Monster Hunter World’s Title Update 2. This update promises numerous changes, but the prospect of customizing our weapons with layered armor sets has truly ignited my passion. I can hardly wait!

In my gaming world, I remember eagerly diving into Monster Hunter World when it first dropped, only to find a missing feature that had been a staple in its precursor. It wasn’t until Update 3 and the Iceborne expansion that this feature finally made an appearance. So, while some of us Monster Hunter fans were hoping to see it from the get-go in Monster Hunter Wilds, we were left disappointed as it didn’t show up at launch. We had assumed, given its presence in the previous game, that it would be there at the start of MH Wilds, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

If you’re new to this feature, it gives players the ability to switch the appearance of their Master Rank weapons without altering their skills or performance. Essentially, it’s a flexible cosmetic customization that can be added or removed using the smithy whenever you like.

As a dedicated Monster Hunter fan, I’m thrilled to share that you can now dive into the action-packed world of Monster Hunter Rise (Wilds) on your PC, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series S, or Xbox Series X for just $69.99!
