In Soulsborne games, death has often been a harsh punishment. Is this also true for Elden Ring Nightreign?
Or, more casually:
In the Soulsborne series, dying can be tough. How about in Elden Ring Nightreign?
From the onset, the Soulsborne series has deeply integrated death as a core element, which has significantly contributed to its unique identity within gaming. The Soulsborne games urge players to accept death as an integral aspect of gameplay. However, despite this, they subtly dissuade complacency by imposing consequences for each demise.
Despite being classified as a rogue-like game, Elden Ring: Nightreign maintains the core essence of its series. Frequent deaths are an inevitable part of this game, primarily due to challenging enemies, bosses, and potentially hazardous terrains. As the renowned Tony Todd once said, “Death is unavoidable,” and that holds true for Nightreign. However, does something as constant as death come without a price? Regrettably, it does.
In the game Elden Ring: Nightreign, similar to other games from the Soulsborne series, there’s a consequence for dying. Previously, you would lose runes every time you perished, which made your advancement slower. Elden Ring: Nightreign maintains this death penalty while introducing an additional one as well. Keep reading to learn about how death functions in Elden Ring: Nightreign and the associated penalties it carries.
What is the Penalty for Death in Elden Ring Nightreign
In Elden Ring Nightreign, it’s important to note that death comes with a consequence – the loss of all accumulated runes. Each time you perish, your rune total resets to zero, and any runes you dropped at the location of your demise remain there. Should you revisit the spot where you died, you have the opportunity to recover some of the progress lost upon death by gathering those runes once more.
Beyond the loss of runes, Elden Ring Nightreign also introduces a more severe consequence – a decrease in your character’s level. As you strive to elevate your character to the highest possible level using your earned runes, dying in the game will lower your character’s level by one. Therefore, if you were Level 8 when you perished, you would reappear at Level 7. This can be quite harsh as a single level could determine the outcome of battles against bosses, making it crucial to tread carefully and strategize effectively.
