Last October, the much-anticipated game “Red Dead Redemption” made its way onto PCs. The reception for this release was overwhelmingly positive, as evidenced by its 92% positive reviews on Steam. However, there is one significant downside: unlike the console versions launched in 2010, it doesn’t include a multiplayer mode. But one dedicated fan has taken matters into their own hands.
- The result of his work is the RDRMP modification, which is already available for download.
- The author’s goal is not simply to recreate the console multiplayer experience. Instead, he aims for something akin to FiveM for GTA 5, so a system with extensive support for new scripts, allowing players to develop their own variants of multiplayer gameplay.
- Currently, the project is in a very early stage and only offers a few basic functions, but it is already worth checking out, just to get an idea of what might be possible.
The project appears quite promising, having been developed by K3rhos – a seasoned modder with a history of creating numerous tools for modifying Red Dead Redemption. In essence, RDRMP could evolve into a FiveM-like platform that empowers fans to materialize their multiplayer ideas within the context of Red Dead Redemption 1 (RDR1).
Indeed, for this optimistic vision to become a reality, Rockstar Games must choose not to abandon the project. Modifying Rockstar games can be unpredictable, and it’s challenging to foretell which modifications will flourish and which might get terminated.
While there’s been some uncertainty surrounding RDRMP, I’m choosing to remain optimistic. You see, Rockstar Games has a history of winding down projects that might compete with their official releases. For instance, the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 1 doesn’t have a multiplayer mode, and Rockstar has stopped working on the multiplayer aspect of Red Dead Redemption 2. With this in mind, I can’t help but hope that RDRMP will enjoy a prosperous future ahead, free from direct competition.
