The chilling horror movie titled “Sinners“, directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, has been relentless in its success. Despite a scheduled digital release, it has persistently drawn audiences back to cinemas. In just a few days, this blood-sucking saga could surpass the highest-earning film in the Conjuring universe – also known as the most profitable horror franchise ever made.

As a die-hard horror enthusiast, I can proudly say that ever since its release on April 18th, “Sinners” has been breaking records at the box office, amassing over $341 million! It’s clear to see why it’s this year’s standout horror film. “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” a close second with $192 million, is no match for its terrifying allure. The momentum “Sinners” has built suggests it’s poised to dethrone “The Nun” as the highest-grossing horror movie of the moment. In the James Wan-created universe, “Sinners” is the current king, outperforming all others in the series. Warner Bros. Pictures is undeniably ruling the roost in the horror genre right now. To put the icing on the cake, they also have “It,” the highest-grossing horror film of all time, under their belt. It’s safe to say that when it comes to delivering chills and thrills, Warner Bros. Pictures is simply unbeatable!

In addition to directing, Coogler was also the one who developed the script for bringing his unique concept to life on the silver screen. The movie “Sinners” features Jordan alongside Miles Caton, Hailee Steinfeld, Delroy Lindo, Jack O’Connell, and Wunmi Mosaku. This film transports viewers to Mississippi during the 1930s as war veterans and identical twins Smoke and Stack Moore make their way back to their small town. Having earned money working for criminal organizations, they plan to employ locals to establish a juke joint on the outskirts of town. However, trouble arises when a band of vampires appears, seeking sustenance for themselves. According to the official plot synopsis of “Sinners”:

Is ‘Sinners 2’ Getting a Sequel Soon?

Of course, the outstanding success of “Sinners” at the box office has fueled discussions about a possible sequel. It’s clear that fans would love another chance to delve into the compelling characters once more, given the thrilling ending that left several storylines unresolved. Furthermore, the narrative structure allows for additional development. These aren’t ordinary vampires we’re dealing with; they’re tough to put down for good.

Speculation about a potential follow-up to the movie “Sinners” emerged recently after Production Weekly (via World of Reel) suggested that “Sinners 2” was in development. However, it’s important to note that this information should be approached with caution, as such a large-scale project would necessitate thorough planning by Warner Bros., and Coogler’s film was only released a month ago. At this stage, we are far from a confirmation regarding the sequel.

Despite its sizeable potential being hard to overlook, it seems unlikely that they would choose to pass on this opportunity. The impressive box office results make a strong case, and given Coogler’s success, he has undoubtedly earned the studio’s confidence. It stands to reason that they will entrust him with additional responsibilities for now, such as working on Black Panther 3. Once those tasks are completed, they will probably revisit discussions about Sinners 2.
