During part one of the ninth season reunion for Summer House, which aired on May 28, West Wilson sought to address a particular issue. Observe Edward the Repentant, isn’t he? Over and over again, West expressed remorse to Ciara Miller for his disrespectful remarks in the New York Times, mishandling their breakup, and then keeping quiet all summer long. The situation escalated so much that Paige DeSorbo even tossed his reminder note (which said “Speak”) onto the floor.
In the ninth season of “Summer House,” the tension between Ciara and West was merely one of several simmering conflicts. To put it another way, their past disagreement felt more like leftovers compared to other breakups within the house. However, even though they appear relatively calm compared to others, there’s still a hint of underlying tension between the newcomer and veteran. Here’s an analysis of the fallout between “Summer House” newbie and veteran.
What do we know about the breakup?
In a captivating debut on Summer House, West managed to win over everyone during his initial season. However, once he received even minimal media attention, he seemed to stumble and make mistakes. During the eighth summer season, he tried to court Ciara who made it clear she was only interested in something serious. By autumn, they were practically dating, but by New Year’s, West ended things. As per DeSorbo, at the end-of-season reunion, West ignored Ciara when social media messages poured in and cameras stopped rolling. He himself admitted to being unsure of how to handle the attention from Bravo fans and watch parties. Despite Andy Cohen offering him a chance to explain his questionable behavior, West remained speechless and opted to stay silent instead.
In June 2024, he had a lengthy conversation with The New York Times. He admitted, “In hindsight, I believe I mishandled the reunion and was nervous, saying things that were not appropriate. However, I am still confident in the decision I made. Our relationship has run its course. I hope that my choice does not continue to haunt me, although I still believe it was the right one.
So … how’d the summer go?
Following a refusal of a hug from West during episode two of “Summer House” season nine, Ciara expressed her displeasure about an article in The Times. She criticized West for not sending a heads-up about another New York Times article he was planning to publish, calling it a weak move. In one clip, she said, “Why not send a text warning you’re going to drop another New York Times article saying, ‘Oh, actually, I didn’t like her and I should have just said that at the reunion because that would have read better than what I said at the reunion.’ I believe that was such a cowardly act.” Jesse Solomon had mentioned at the reunion that West left the dinner table for 20 minutes after Ciara criticized the article, returned without comment, fueling Ciara’s feelings of betrayal. This occurred while Ciara was in a media blackout for her participation in “The Traitors.
Did the reunion help mend things?
It appears that Ciara and West are moving towards a reconciliation, as West has apologized for mishandling their breakup directly to her, unlike previously when he addressed it through a reporter. Ciara explained that the breakup occurred during a difficult period in her life, with family issues arising during the holidays. She mentioned that they had a friendship and often discussed family dynamics, but West was preoccupied, seemingly only half-committed, which left her feeling neglected. As they spoke, both Ciara and Kyle Cooke shed tears, while West pondered deeply.
Will there be more scenes featuring Ciara and West in upcoming episodes, or will we continue to witness the prolonged drama of Lexi and Jesse’s split? Fortunately, at least West avoided any embarrassing foot-in-mouth moments during this current season.
