Red Hook Studios’ highly anticipated sequel, Darkest Dungeon II, has now made available its “Secrets of the Coven” expansion on Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles, after initially being released for PC and PlayStation systems.
In the past few days, the second installment of “Kingdoms” titled “Secrets of the Coven” was launched on PlayStation, and it’s now accessible on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. This expansion introduces a fresh Kingdoms quest, an opposing faction, new gameplay mechanics, items, and additional features. Simultaneously, Red Hook Studios has unveiled an informative graphic that details the game’s progress up until now and its future developments.
Darkest Dungeon II is now out on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The physical version of Darkest Dungeon II: Anniversary Edition will be released in Q4 2025.

Red Hook Studios, the minds behind Darkest Dungeon, are thrilled to introduce Secrets of the Coven – the second instalment among three adventure modules for the Kingdoms game mode in Darkest Dungeon II. Today, it’s available on Nintendo Switch and Xbox! Players embark on a journey to expose and eliminate the enigmatic Coven before their covert actions lead to the catastrophic collapse of their kingdom.
The Coven’s Mysteries is an upcoming, no-cost expansion that introduces a fresh Kingdoms quest, a new adversarial faction, innovative gameplay mechanics, and items, plus several popular Kingdoms features requested by the community, such as storage for inns, selling of items, and additional features! This update was previously launched on Steam for both PC and Mac in April, and on PlayStation consoles this month.
Chris Bourassa, Creative Director, highlights that ‘The Secrets of the Coven’ deviates significantly from the early Kingdoms experience, ‘Hunger of the Beast Clan.’ The gameplay speed, mechanics, and quest progression have a unique, standout vibe. Plus, the enemy faction is unlike any other we’ve encountered so far. Our team has ventured into uncharted realms with this game, and we can’t wait to hear what our players think!
Kingdoms represents a free game setting that offers a revamped framework along with three story-driven segments, initially featuring The Hunger of the Beast Clan and now progressing to The Secrets of the Coven. Unlike the original Confessions mode, in Kingdoms, players are challenged to safeguard the realm and an extensive system of taverns against formidable new adversaries such as the savage beastmen and treacherous coven. An additional adventure module is slated for launch in 2025.
Recently, Red Hook Studios marked the two-year milestone since Darkest Dungeon II’s 1.0 debut. Over the past year, they’ve made some exciting strides in the game’s expansion, such as making it available on Mac and consoles, incorporating mod support, unveiling a new mode called Kingdoms, and launching the Inhuman Bondage DLC. There are more updates to look forward to, including the much-anticipated third Kingdoms module, improved modding options, unique hero origin skins, extensive hero overhauls, and lots of additional content.
